Dishwashers were once meant to be a luxury appliance and is now slowly becoming a commonplace, time-saving kitchen appliance. Like many other home appliances, the dishwasher helps make your daily dishes cleaning activity effortless. The list of brands and models, armed with a variety of features and energy-efficient performance has grown. If you are planning to buy one and are perplexed about choosing the right one, you have landed at the right place.

How much time can I save?

If you run a busy family, you might spend a large part of your day in preparing meals for your family. This may even include a lot of time doing the dishes. On an average, you may spend 30 to 40 a day washing the dishes. Dishwashers help save your time by getting this done in just 10 minutes. Some high-end models even give an option of setting a time saver programme, to suit your schedule.

A slice of modern life – design and types of dishwashers

Unlike other home appliances, dishwashers do not take up much space. It is a single unit that can easily fits even in a small kitchen. There are two types of washers – free standing dishwashers and built-in dishwashers.

Free standing dishwashers are the most common and preferred washers. They are designed to be flexibly placed in the kitchen and do not require a separate cabinet. Built-in dishwashers fit perfectly inside the kitchen cabinet. Also, they can be covered with the outer cabinet panel to integrate with the kitchen aesthetics.

Dishwashers adjust as per your needs

Loading utensils in the dishwasher takes no time. Most dishwashers come with an adjustable top rack, which lets the lower rack accommodate large utensils with other delicate glasses and bowls on the top. Some dishwashers even let you remove the top rack as needed.

Cleaning performance of a dishwasher

For many of us, the performance of a dishwasher is big thing. The efficiency of wash cycles truly depends on a number of water spray arms and drying methods used. Traditional dishwashers feature two spray arms at the bottom, which spray water during the wash cycle. Some of the high-end models even feature 3 arms. These are more powerful and do the job perfect. There is no denying that these models are pricey too.

Talking about the drying feature in the dishwashers, there are two most common methods – hot air drying and fan drying. In hot air drying, dishwashers increase the water temperature to rinse utensils at the end of every clean cycle. Once rinsed, the interior of the dishwasher driesy, further reducing moisture level from utensils.

In dry method, a small fan inside the dishwasher is used to dry utensils. This is one of the energy-efficient methods, since it doesn’t require more power to heat water or the inside container.

Controls in your hand

Traditional dishwashers used buttons and knobs, whereas new entrants feature touchscreen controls for easy operation. Most dishwashers also have a small LED display, indicating wash settings and timings so that you can keep an eye during wash cycle. Using these machines is as simple as using a washing machine.

Save water, save energy

Washing utensils with hands consume lot of water. Dishwashers on the other hand come with features, which automatically detect the load in the washer and consume only the required amount of water and electricity to complete the washing cycle.

Installation – leave it to us

A dishwasher is definitely a worthy, long-term purchase. It can be safer because you are less likely to break delicate and expensive crockery. Also, it is easier to operate and handle, since you need to only load utensils in the washer and forget about it. The most important benefit of a dishwasher is that you can spend your time, never having to worry about who’s going to be doing the dishes after every meal.
