GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini – A small new wonder

GoPros are best known as cameras that can be mounted on the hood of your car, even the wing of an aeroplane. They are made to withstand extreme weather conditions and stresses. Every year they have gotten bigger and better, to include larger displays and batteries. However, a large action camera isn’t always a good thing. Many GoPro fans adored past models such as the Hero Session that could fit into tight spaces. Looks like GoPro understands this requirement, and their answer is the new Hero 11 Mini, which is a complete refresh. Where older models made performance compromises for compact sizes, this one doesn’t.

The most notable feature of this new GoPro is undoubtedly its size. It way lighter and smaller than the current generation flagship GoPro, which means you can easily mount it on a helmet without feeling its weight. If you record cycling or motorcycling videos, this arrangement should put less stress on your neck. The lightweight and compact nature also open up endless possibilities. You can mount the camera on your RC cars or even the mudflap of your bike. Users can also have it on custom-made drones and experience better dynamics and flight time due to the reduced weight.

GoPro says the Hero 11 Black Mini is wrapped entirely in a tough outer shell, making it one of the most durable GoPros ever made. It is also water-resistant like its bigger sibling, so you can take it to the pool or the sea without worrying. As there is no screen, it can take a beating unlike its bigger sibling. The camera has two mounting brackets, one at the bottom and the other at the rear. The addition of a rear bracket allows for capturing better point-of-view footage. The camera comes with a heatsink at the rear to dissipate heat. GoPro says the heatsink is specially designed for the Hero 11 Black Mini and works well even through hours of continuous video recording.

The GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini runs the same GP2 CPU as the bigger Hero 11. It comes with an 8:7 aspect ratio sensor, offering a large squarish field of view. GoPro says this allows users to crop videos without any loss to quality. The camera is capable of recording up to 5.3K videos at 60 fps, 4K at up to 120 fps and 2.7K at up to 240 fps. The camera also supports 8X slow motion video recording at 2.7K and 4X slow motion at 4K. The camera can also capture up to 24.5 MP photos and push them across various content platforms. The camera is also compatible with the GoPro Max Lens Mod that delivers 155-degree FOV, for enhanced perspective and improved depth of field.

Like the bigger sibling, the Hero 11 Mini also supports HyperSmooth 5.0 stabilisation for smooth video capture. This features works like magic for adventure enthusiasts as well as travel vloggers. This feature can automatically detect the level of video stabilisation you need, based on your speed and movement for the smoothest, widest shots possible. The Hero 11 Mini also supports Horizon Lock, so the angle stays level, even if the camera tilts while recording. Horizon Lock now also works with HyperSmooth 5.0, delivering smooth video recording even if the camera is rotated 360 degrees. There is also support for new Light Painting and Vehicle Light Trails modes for better night photography.

The camera is entirely controlled using the power and record buttons since there is no screen. A lack of screen shouldn’t be a big issue, as you can control the camera using voice commands. The camera also supports the GoPro Quick app which helps preview recorded photos and videos. You can also access settings and change the field of view and modes using this app. GoPro says the camera is compatible with nearly 40 existing accessories.

The GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini comes with a 1,500 mAH battery. Despite its smaller size, the battery supports GoPro’s Enduro technology which dramatically improves cold-weather performance while boosting runtimes in moderate temperatures.

The Hero 11 Black Mini is perfect for those who want a compact profile action camera with massive capturing capabilities. Despite its size, the GoPro Hero 11 Mini makes no performance compromise, which is surely a win situation for every action camera user. The camera is priced at Rs. 41,500 and is now available at www.reliancedigital.in. For more information, you can also visit your nearest Reliance Digital store.
