Bigger is better, and this goes quite well with gaming laptops. They have larger screens, better keyboards and more importantly, space to accommodate powerful hardware. However, they can be bulky so carrying them around becomes tedious. Thankfully, the new Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 break the stereotype. It’s a 17-inch laptop built on a near-15-inch chassis, with a full-sized optical-mechanical keyboard, and all the bells-and-whistles to deliver an ultimate gaming performance.

The ROG Zephyrus S17 2021 extracts all its power from Intel’s Core i9-11900H CPU. It is an 8-core processor that can achieve a max speed of up to 4.9GHz. High-end games or applications run without a trace of stutter. There is 16GB of GDDR6 onboard memory with additional RAM slots for expansion up to 32GB. With this sort of power, the device will easily let you run heavy applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator side-by-side. There is an 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD drive and additional dual SSD slots for storage expansion.

The Asus Zephyrus S17 2021 delivers the ultimate gaming performance with its NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPU. It is based on the Ampere Architecture and supports features such as real-time ray tracing for life-like graphics and DLSS 2.0 for improved deep learning. The laptop easily runs AAA gaming titles such as Resident Evil: Village, Ghostrunner, Control, Hitman 3 and Microsoft Flight Simulator. The configuration is also ideal for running 3D modelling software such as Autodesk Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp and Houdini. There is also a mid-range variant with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card.

To keep things cool, Asus has introduced its proprietary AAS Plus cooling system. This system lifts the keyboard to a 5-degree angle, so a large 12mm fan underneath can draw cool air. Asus says the new cooling system is highly efficient and quieter than last year’s model. Asus has also used the liquid-metal thermal compound to dissipate heat. Asus’s ROG Scenario Profiles also lets you optimise cooling by seamlessly switching operating modes based on the task at hand.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 2021 has a large 17.3-inch display. A larger display size means better details and a better gaming experience. There are also creative advantages, as you can easily manage your video timelines and run more apps side-by-side. There are two configurations to choose from – a 4K, 120Hz screen or a QHD resolution, 165Hz screen. Both options feature a cinema-grade 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour gamut and are Pantone Validated for accuracy, ideal for life-like, in-game visuals and content creation. They also support Dolby Vision to boost contrast and enhance the overall viewing experience.

At just 19.9mm, the Asus Zephyrus S17 2021 is quite a thin, portable laptop. It has a magnesium-alloy chassis for extreme durability and comes with diamond-cut edges for premium looks. The design is very minimalistic, and its Stealthy Black colour gives it a gaming character. Despite a slim chassis, the laptop has a 90Whr battery and ships with a 100W fast charger that drastically reduces the charging times.

Asus has also updated the keyboard on the ROG Zephyrus S17 2021. It is a full-size backlit keyboard with a spacious key layout. The keys now use new optical-mechanical switches that are more responsive than conventional alternatives. The laptop has a configurable Multi Wheel above the keyboard to control volume, microphone input, and even keyboard backlighting. Asus has also updated the trackpad on the device. The new large glass trackpad lets you easily scroll through pages, and it also supports Microsoft Precision Touch that is more accurate, thereby allowing you to make flawless multi-finger gestures to multi-task.

The Asus Zephyrus S17 2021 has Wi-Fi 6 and an RJ45 LAN port for internet connectivity that helps reduce latency and make the most of your home or office’s network capacity. There is also Bluetooth 5.2, one of the latest standards for connecting wireless accessories. A Thunderbolt 4 port allows connecting two 4K displays or an 8K display. You can also use this port to charge the device and transfer data quickly to storage devices. Three USB Type-A ports give you the flexibility to connect all your devices. There is also an SD card reader with transfer speeds up to 312MB/s, making moving photos and videos seamless if you use professional cameras.

The Asus Zephyrus S17 2021 offers one of the best speaker setups in a gaming laptop. There are two forward-facing speakers for high volumes and a pair of force-cancelling woofers under the palm rest for balancing bass. They also support Dolby Atmos for enhancing the overall sound quality. The laptop also uses the Asus Smart Headset AMP feature to automatically detects the impedance of connected headsets and it adjusts its settings to drive superior sound.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 2021 offers everything a gamer can dream of. The laptop is powerful, comes with a great display and all this is offered in a portable form factor. The laptop will be soon available at www.reliancedigital.in and also at your nearest Reliance Digital store.
