The Sero from Samsung is like a large smartphone-TV

If you have tried mirroring your smartphone to the TV, you’ll know it looks odd since the TV is horizontally shaped while phones are held like a portrait, vertically. The Sero from Samsung is a TV that could fix that problem. It’s a vertical TV in the sense, that it can be rotated and held up like a smartphone. The product we’re talking about today is specifically is the 43LS05T, The Sero, which is the 43-inch model. You can find it already at your nearest Reliance Digital store and online.
The biggest feature besides being a TV, is being able to screen mirror your smartphone or tablet to the TV. This means, you will be able to use your smart TV as a 43-inch smartphone, and you can use the phone as a remote for it. It doesn’t matter what you mirror off your phone, the app menu, movies, TV shows, games or just productivity software. It’s a whole new experience and it’s unlike any other.

Getting your screen from the smartphone to the TV doesn’t require any complicated menu navigation either. A simple Easy Tap view helps you make that transition in seconds. Traditionally, screen-mirroring your smartphone to the TV meant there would be two large bars on either side since the TV wasn’t vertically aligned. With the Sero vertically set up, you should see no black bars, depending on the aspect ratio of the smartphone you’re using. You really can make the most of the TV’s screen real estate.
The smartphone needn’t be the only source. You could connect your laptop’s display wirelessly as well to the Samsung Sero. Imagine being able to sit back, use the laptop as an input and the TV as a monitor, without any cables running about.

The TV itself a 4K (3840 x 2160), QLED-panel display. It uses Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology which they claim deliver 100 per cent colour gamut, which should also mean accurate colours, rather than bright, gaudy colours. The details are maintained as the scenes transition from dark to light and back again. You don’t miss out on any detail, in the brightest parts of the screen or the darkest. There are sensors to help the Adaptive Picture feature which detects the light in the room you place the TV in, and the TV can make changes to the picture to suit it.
Samsung is proud of its SmartThings feature that lets you connect devices around your smart home together. SmartThings works on the Sero, whether you’re using an Android smartphone or an iPhone. The possibilities are endless. You could be queuing up movies to watch on your Sero TV even when you’re on the way home. You can choose between voice assistants too. There is support for Samsung’s Bixby and Amazon’s Alexa. This means, you could use the remote control and ask the TV to do all kinds of tasks for you. It could tell you a joke, check on the weather, check the traffic, even operate features on the TV for you. If you have a smart home setup with cameras, and switches, you can operate them remotely, using the power of your voice. The operating system running the TV is Samsung’s own Tizen which has been refined over the years. It’s easy to get used to, and navigating the interface is intuitive.

AirPlay 2 is another feature that’s great if you own Apple products. You could be using an iPad or an iPhone and you can control content from the device straight to your Samsung Sero. You won’t need to install any pesky software and setup anything in addition. You can get going in moments.
The speakers aren’t shabby either. Rated at 60W, they’re capable of putting out some impressively loud sound. Most TVs tend to suffer in the sound department, but this Samsung Sero is no slouch. It comes with 4.1 speakers built into the stand, a feat other TVS can’t achieve because of their tiny bezels. You won’t have to worry about buying a separately set of speakers or a soundbar. There’s even a woofer in that stand and the speakers are Dolby Digital Plus compliant. You have to hear them to believe it. There is also some advance wizardry built into the TV, so if you have a lot of background noise around, the TV can detect it. it then makes changes to the TV sound so that dialogues are clearer, so you don’t miss a line.
Most diversions from traditional product designs result in some troubles, but that’s not the case with the Samsung Sero. The Sero is an everyday TV and it’s built like that. The stand it comes shipped with is designed in a manner that it’s sturdy, stable, regardless of how you align the TV. The stand is a piece of art by itself. It even has wheels so you can move it around to other rooms. There are also stands at the base that stop the TV from moving from its position. With a TV as unique as this, you would want to have it around in different rooms. It’s not just a TV, it’s something that adds a certain ambience to every room. You could have it playing a slideshow of photos from your recent holiday, in your bedroom, maybe listing out the latest cricket scores in the study room, or just playing movies in the living room. If you own a retail shop or have an event, you could place the Sero at the entrance, displaying deals or information about the event, or just some beautiful artwork. The possibilities are endless.

All the rest of the things you should care about when you buy a new TV are in place. It has 3 HDMI ports, sufficient to connect multiple sources to, two USB ports for keyboards and mice, even storage drives. HDMI-CEC is supported too, so you can use other remote controls for other devices and the TV. The ARC feature can also be used to send audio back to an external audio setup as well. The TV uses Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 to interact with the web and other devices.

So, if you’re in the market for a great TV but also something that you could use as a second display for your smartphone, The Sero from Samsung is like any other. This isn’t some dream concept, it’s an actual TV you can buy right now from Reliance Digital.
