The way we click photos on our smartphones has changed. We have seen phones with multiple cameras, pop-up mechanisms and punch-hole cameras. Vivo, a brand known for its cameras has recently unveiled the X50-series of smartphones. The X50 is a mid-range phone with multiple cameras and 5G connectivity, while the X50 Pro is a star product, is the first to ship with a gimbal camera stabilization system. The camera sensor on this phone physically moves to reduce the amount of motion in our hands. There is more to this phone. Let’s find out.

The Vivo X50 Pro looks great, with its dual-curved design and glass back. The phone spans 158.4 x 72.8 x 8.04 mm and weighs 181.5g, which is slim and lightweight. The 6.5-inch 3D-curved AMOLED screen running a 2376 x 1080 resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, is surrounded by a thin bezel. The AMOLED screen offers vivid colors and is now becoming a smartphone norm.

The Vivo X50 Pro comes in a beautiful gradient back design with an alpha grey color. The AG frosting glass technology on the rear hides smudges and fingerprints. The phone is jam-packed with flagship-grade feature, besides its bold design. It has HDR10+ support, which makes watching movies and favorite TV shows fun on the large screen. The X50 Pro is equipped with a down-firing speaker to deliver loud sound when listening to music, gaming and while watching movies. The brightness of the Vivo X50 Pro can be tweaked up to as high as 1300 nits to get clear and stunning visuals.

The Vivo X50 Pro features a quad-camera setup on its back. The star of the show is the 48MP primary camera. It is equipped with a Sony IMX598 custom sensor that is stabilized with a gimbal system. Vivo claims it is 3 times better than traditional OIS camera setups. The mechanism uses a dual-ball suspension mount to stabilize hand movements. What does that mean in practice? The X50 Pro clicks sharp, clear pictures and stunning motion shots. Vivo claims the Motion Deblur algorithm further corrects the picture quality by reducing any residual blur. The quad-camera setup also includes a 13MP portrait, an 8MP telephoto with optical image stabilization, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The multiple cameras on the Vivo X50 Pro can click photos and videos with great details, bright colors and clear textures.

The X50 Pro also has an Astro mode to capture the starry sky. The feature sounds like the Astrophotography Mode found on the Google Pixel 4. Vivo’s gimbal camera system and the advanced Sky Divider algorithm shoot multiple frames of the sky and then assemble them for better starry night photos.

The Vivo X50 Pro runs FunTouch OS 10.5 based on Android 10. Vivo’s FunTouch OS uses medium-purity water colors and balanced icons to offer an interactive experience. The UI is much cleaner, and it is optimized to work at 90 fps, so it is more fun to use. The X50 Pro has an always-on display feature, which can be customized to your liking. There is a Dark Mode too.

The Vivo X50 Pro is equipped with Qualcomm’s 5G-capable Snapdragon 765G. This processor is powerful and can deliver high-end flagship performance, while consuming little energy. The chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM, so you can play resource-heavy games and run multiple apps in the background without loss in performance. The phone supports 5G so it can deliver fast connectivity and high data speeds when the technology arrives. In terms of connectivity, this phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and OTG. The Vivo X50 Pro has a single storage option of 256GB, which is enough to store hundreds of photos, movies, videos and songs. The phone houses a 4,315 mAh battery that gives you all the power needed to get through the day. Vivo’s 33W FlashCharge 2.0 helps regain the charge.

The Vivo X50 Pro unlocks the true potential of a camera phone. It is the first phone with a gimbal stabilization system that can capture impressive photos and videos. Every aspect of the Vivo X50 Pro is carefully crafted, from the glass sandwich design, gradient back to the curvy OLED screen. The display with its high refresh rate is great for gaming and video playback. The all-new Vivo X50 Pro is priced at Rs. 49,990* and pre-orders have already begun at Reliance Digital.
