Most Bluetooth speakers have a boxy shape that output sound in a single direction. Bose’s SoundLink Revolve speaker from a while back, was a cylindrical speaker that delivered 360-degree sound, so everyone around it, could experience it. Bose has now launched its successor, the SoundLink Revolve+ II that has significant improvements in its 360-degree sound. The new speaker is more durable, it comes with a premium design, and it brings tons of new features.

The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II is remarkably portable. It weighs 0.9 kg, comes with a built-in woven handle that gives it a lantern-like look if you hold the speaker upright. The speaker features an aluminium chassis with a rubberised base and top. There are no seams to the metal centre unit, and there are uniformly drilled holes for the 360-degree sound. The speaker comes in two colours – Tripe Black and Luxe Silver. Both colours look premium, and they blend seamlessly into your entertainment setup. There is also a tripod mount at the base, and four metal contacts for using the device with the charging dock, which is sold separately.

The speaker’s modern design also comes with solid durability. It has an IP55 rating, so it can easily handle some water and dust. This means you can use the speaker in places like the poolside or near the kitchen sink without worrying about accidental splashes. The rubberised top and base also protect it from scratches and bumps. Bose says you can easily toss the speaker in your backpack or set it down a little harder without worrying about damaging it.

The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II has an easy selection of controls. You can use the + and – buttons to increase or decrease the volume or press them simultaneously to mule to unmute calls. The speaker’s multi-function button lets you play, pause, backtrack, and skip tracks. You can also press and hold it to activate your smartphone’s voice assistant. The speaker also informs you of the battery status through a voice prompt when pressing the power button.

The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II receives major hardware upgrades too. It now equips dual-passive radiators that deliver improved low note performance, and it reduces vibrations for a clean sound. The downward-facing, full-range speaker works with an omnidirectional deflector to spread sound in all directions. Bose says the speaker delivers a neutral sound profile which makes it perfect for listening to a wide variety of audio content. There is also more bass than before, and with its excellent omnidirectional sound, you can enjoy music with an open spacious sounding soundstage.

The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II has integrated microphones for calling and using Siri and Google Assistant. Bose says the microphones can pick your voice even in noisy environments, so you can easily play, pause and change tracks from a distance. Controlling music is also possible using the Bose Connect app. It also lets you pair two SoundLink speakers to create a stereo setup if you like a more immersive sound. If you are hosting a party in a large room, there is also a new Party mode that allows pairing of more than two SoundLink speakers.

The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II also offers excellent Bluetooth performance. It has low latency with iOS and Android devices, making it suitable for watching videos and movies. The speaker keeps track of the last eight paired devices, and you can easily manage connections using the Bose Connect app. The speaker also has NFC. It allows for pairing of NFC-enabled device with just a tap. For connecting older devices, you can also use the speaker’s auxiliary port.

The new Revolve II now offers 13-hour playtime, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The speaker also has a power-saving feature that you can program using the Bose Connect app. It lets you shut down the speaker when it is inactive for anywhere between five minutes and three hours.
