Oppo has been successful in the Indian smartphone segment this year with its premium Oppo Find X2, the mid-range Reno4 Pro, and the budget A52 phone. Oppo recently updated the A52 with the new, A53. The phone has everything from an intriguing design, a triple-camera configuration, and a 90Hz display like most flagships, but at half the price. The Oppo A53 is priced at Rs. 15,490* and is now available at Reliance Digital.

The A53 is a large phone, equipped with a 6.5-inch punch-hole display. The large size screen makes it great for watching movies and gaming experience. Its 720 x 1600 HD+ resolution offers good details and the 269dpi pixel density shows more content at a time. A major improvement is the 90Hz refresh rate, a feature missing on the older Oppo A52. It enables smooth transitions and animations and it’s particularly great fun for fast-paced games. The screen also great contrast, and it renders detailed images. You will find it snappy, responsive, and easy on the eyes too. You can watch content, browse the internet, and play games, while not having to charge the Oppo A53 as often. The phone comes equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. The Super Power Saving Mode onboard the phone closes background apps, pauses auto-sync, reduces the screen brightness, and turns off vibration which can extend the battery life by a lot more. Oppo has paired the high-speed 18W fast charger with the phone, which should fully charge it under an hour.

At the core of the Oppo A53 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460M processor. It’s not the absolute flagship-class processor, but it gives the device enough performance boost to run all the apps you need. It’s an octa-core processor accompanied by a Adreno 610 GPU, which should handle PUBG and other graphics-intensive games easily. The phone comes in two configurations. The base model is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, whereas the high-end model comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You can expand the storage space further up to 256GB, using a microSD card. This should let you store hundreds of photos and videos clicked on the Oppo A53. The phone has a triple camera setup at the back. The primary camera sports a 13MP lens, supporting a 6x digital zoom, alongside a 2MP depth unit for capturing DSLR-like bokeh effects. The third camera uses a 2MP macro lens for capturing great close-up shots of food, insects, and flowers. The upper-left corner of the screen houses the 16MP AI camera. Using AI, it should detect faces and subjects in the frame automatically to get the best possible photos. Oppo has included a bunch of AI beautification features besides the 15 filter lenses meant to match your every mood, style, and occasion. There are also professional shooting modes that you exercise your creativity while capturing photos and videos.

The Oppo A53 is skilfully crafted, with its 3D translucent ocean wave design at the back. The phone measures 0.84mm in thickness and is also lightweight, weighing just 186g. Oppo offers the A53 in three colours – Fancy Blue, Fairy White, and Electric Black. On the software front, the A53 runs Oppo’s ColorOS 7.2, based on Android 10. The UI comes with a refreshed design, lots of camera features, and battery optimizations. The new OS also supports Android 10 gestures for navigating seamlessly through apps, menus, and it has lots of customization options, including fancy themes and widgets. The Oppo A53 comes with an Anti-Lag feature, which Oppo claims is a PC-grade, cutting-edge technology to reduce lag when opening apps and running games.

The Oppo A53 is a dual-SIM phone that also supports the latest Wi-Fi 802.11ac (Wi-Fi 5) standard allowing improved speed and wide-range connectivity. The Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity lets you connect to to phones, laptops, speakers, TVs but also a string of IoT devices such as electronic appliances, and security systems. The A53 can also connect to two Bluetooth-enabled devices to play music, which is useful if you are hosting a party or playing music on Bluetooth speakers in different rooms. The all-new Oppo A53 features Dirac’s automatic audio optimization. This breakthrough, cutting-edge audio technology enables the A53’s built-in dual-stereo speakers to offer a premium listening experience, with clearer audio, rich details and powerful bass.

The A53 is the latest A-series phone on Oppo’s list. It may not be the most premium phone from Oppo, but it is one of the most affordable ones to include a gradient design, triple camera, and a 90Hz punch-hole display. These are features seen on premium phones, but the A53 is way more affordable.
