The number of smartphones being offered is staggering and they are all grouped up into various price segments. The price bracket between Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 40,000 is especially interesting because of the number of affordable flagship models. The Samsung A9 is the newest and boldest device from Samsung ever since the Note 9 came out. There are several reasons to be excited about it, so let’s find out what they are.

Cameras, many cameras!

Going away from the tradition of most major phone launches, the biggest highlight of the Samsung A9 is not its processor but its camera. There isn’t one camera at the back, or two, but four! They are mounted one above the other. While most phones have two cameras, aimed specifically at doing one of few things – better photography in low light, or zooming or portrait photography, or wide-angle photography. The four cameras enable the Samsung A9 to do all of those things so you don’t need to compromise.

The primary camera has a resolution of 24MP, the ultra-wide camera is 8MP, the telephoto one 10MP while the depth camera operates at 5MP. Each of these have custom apertures that allow you to get crisp and well-lit shots. Even the front-facing camera that you might use for selfies and video calling is rated at 24MP. Samsung has a bunch of smart features that intelligently use the cameras and features to get you the perfect capture, every time. If it doesn’t, the A9 even tells you if someone in the photo blinked, or if there is too much blur and if you need to click the shot again.

If all that wasn’t enough, the Samsung A9 even shoots 4K content at 30fps. What this means in short, is that the A9 is a much more versatile camera than most phones made.

More screen, no notch

Unlike other brands that use notches, Samsung has stuck to a design that includes no obstructions while maintaining a high enough resolution on its massive 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen. Samsung is calling it FHD+, but it’s really 2220 x 1080 pixels in resolution. This means it is a large screen to view the photos you just clicked, play PUBG, stream movies and videos and even multitask between apps.

The Super AMOLED display is great for battery as well as it is for high-contrast content, which means better looking apps, Instagram, movies, games and more. The Super AMOLED display allows for an Always On Display that lets you display minimalist notifications that are not intrusive and give you all the necessary information without lighting up the entire screen.

The processing superpower under the hood

The Samsung A9 runs an octa-core setup, with some cores running at 2.2GHz while the rest at 1.8 GHz. The A9 is powerful by modern standards and capable of running the latest games and apps without breaking a sweat. There are two variants of the A9, one running 6GB of RAM and the other one running 8GB. All of this should allow you to multitask and jump between tasks in a jiffy.

Enough storage for a lifetime

Most phones boast about hybrid SIM card slots that let you choose between using a SIM card and a memory card. No such compromises on the Samsung A9! The phone has two dedicated SIM card slots and a microSD card slot in addition. The inbuilt storage is a whopping 128GB which should be more than enough for most of us, but if you aren’t happy with it, you can plug in a 512GB microSD card. That’s enough to store days of movies and months of nonstop music.

It still has a headphone jack, fast charging and more!

The Samsung A9 did not settle for a notch, neither did it get rid of the trusty headphone jack. This means you don’t have to worry about carrying a convertor extension adapter or start using Bluetooth headsets. A large, trusty 3800mAh sits in the back of the A9 which ensures you have enough power to run the device through a day and more. The phone uses a Type-C USB connector that’s easy to plug in and it also does fast charging so you don’t have to wait hours before you can get going.
The rest of the standard features are upgraded. There is WiFi 802.11ac for super-faster network connectivity, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, amongst others. The phone has a stunning design and there are interesting colour options to choose from – Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink.

Those are a lot of things to be excited about the Samsung A9 whether you’re into photography, playing games, working or simply watching movies and TV shows. The Samsung A9 is now available for pre-order at Reliance Digital. You can choose between the 6 and 8GB versions of the Caviar Black and Lemonade Blue versions.
