Samsung Galaxy S20 – Taking mobile photography to the next level

The year began with news, reports and rumours around Samsung’s Galaxy series of phones. A few weeks back, Samsung introduced the trio – the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. These phones are bound to have many excited, because Samsung continues to deliver the best. At their core, the S20, S20+ and the S20 Ultra are packed with impressive specs, such as AMOLED screens, upgraded cameras, expandable storage and long-lasting batteries. The Galaxy S20 series are not the most affordable models but they are powerful and impressive. Let’s take a closer look at the Galaxy S20 devices and what they offer.

The all-new Galaxy S20 series is bold and impressive. The most interesting chapter of the Galaxy S20’s innovation are the cameras, primarily the rear cameras. These phones have a large portion of the back dedicated to them. The S20 and the S20+ models come with improved 64MP cameras, whereas the S20 Ultra comes with a whopping 108MP camera. These high-resolution cameras can perform all kind of smart tricks to capture incredibly sharp and clear photos. For someone who like clicking lots of selfies, the S20 Ultra’s 40MP camera will impress. The other bit that should have you interested in the Samsung S20 series is the optical zoom. Samsung is calling it ‘Space Zoom’. Both, the S20 and the S20+ feature 64MP sensors with 3x zooms, whereas the premium sibling, the S20 Ultra, comes with a 10x zoom. This means, you get much closer shots with superior quality. You can pinch into photos, zoom out, crop or print them. Last year, Samsung had introduced the Night Mode with the Galaxy S10 series and the feature is also available in the Galaxy S20 phones. With AI and the large image sensors, switching to Night Mode will help click multiple photos and merge them into one stunning shot, even in low light.

Make no mistake, the S20 series will certainly revolutionize the way we click photos and videos. There is another surprise for all the photo enthusiasts. The S20 trio offer 8K video recording, which is four times the resolution of 4K and 16 times that of full HD. The videos you capture will now be much more detailed and realistic. Samsung’s sophisticated AI stabilizer will reduce the shaky motion, just like action cameras. The large 120Hz HDR10+ AMOLED displays are another way to take advantage of what you have clicked. Samsung has set a new 120Hz display standard and this year could see more phones conforming to it. The 120Hz might sound like just another number but this should offer smoother and seamless screen transitions, precise touch and a responsive gaming experience compared to phones using traditional 60Hz displays.

The storage is another interesting factor of the Galaxy S20 phones. The 128GB internal storage can store hundreds of high resolution photos, videos, movies and music. You can choose to use a microSD card for additional storage, up to 1TB. The Galaxy S20 series runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and massive amounts of RAM. The latest processor features more powerful image processing, better power efficiency and support for 5G. This is great because you’ll soon see 5G connectivity becoming mainstream with faster connectivity and higher data speeds. The S20 and the S20+ are equipped with 12GB of RAM, whereas the S20 Ultra comes in two options, 12GB and 16GB. This combination can make the Galaxy S20 models more powerful.

There are lot of features on the Samsung S20 models, including the 120Hz display, all-new cameras that make phones power hungry. Samsung has fitted large capacity batteries, maxing out at 5,000 mAh inside all the S20 models. As for charging, both the S20 and the S20+ supports 25W fast charging, whereas the S20 Ultra model supports 45W fast charging. In addition, all three phones support 15W wireless charging and 9W reverse charging. This means you can charge other devices such as the Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Watch by placing them on the back of your S20 phones.
