Today’s mid-range smartphones are nothing short of flagship devices. Many models sport powerful processors, good cameras and some even come with 90Hz displays. Realme has upped their mid-range lineup by launching the X3 and X3 Zoom. These phones are powered by 2019’s flagship processors, and they are also some of the first mid-range devices equipped with 120Hz displays. Realme claims these phones have the perfect blend of features and performance, all at affordable prices.

The Realme X3 and the X3 Zoom look no less than flagship devices. They are constructed using Gorilla Glass 5, both at the front and the back. The glass construction provides a premium look, and it also protects the phones from impacts, dents, and scratches. These devices use aluminum chassis, that makes them stronger and lighter than other mid-range devices. The screen edges are minimal, due to the dual punch-hole display design. Both smartphones are available in two colours, Glacier Blue and Arctic White.

The Realme X3 and X3 Zoom come with a side-positioned power button that also doubles as a fingerprint reader. This design offers a better reach and it even lets you unlock the device, without looking at it. The fingerprint reader can be used to make payments and to download apps. Both phones use a Tactile Engine for better vibration feedback. Realme has also upgraded the Liquid Cooling System, that ensures the devices remain cool and maintain high performance even after prolonged usage.

The Realme X3 and X3 Zoom come with a 6.6-inch full HD display, running a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400. A lot of mid-range devices come with 90Hz displays these days but the Realme X3 and X3 Zoom are among the first mid-range phones to sport 120Hz displays. Higher refresh rate screens have less motion blur, so scrolling through app drawers, images and webpages appear a lot smoother. The display is nearly edgeless with its 90.5 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It uses an IPS LCD panel that renders accurate colours and ensures wide viewing angles. This should make these phones a good choice for watching movies, reading e-books and playing games.

The Realme X3 and X3 Zoom run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor. This was Qualcomm’s flagship processor in 2019, and it’s incredibly quick even today. It can run most apps and games with ease. These phones come with an Adreno 640 GPU, to run high-end games such as PlayersUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG: Mobile) at high-graphic settings. Both devices are available in 8GB and 12GB of RAM configurations. Realme X3 and X3 Zoom are also some of the first mid-range smartphones with 128GB UFS 3.0 storage. This should result in faster read and write speeds, and it will also help load apps in moments.

The Realme 6 Pro runs Android 10 OS, and it features the Realme UI launcher. The new UI looks a lot like stock Android, which means a simplistic design, and an easy-to-use interface. It comes with white and gradient backgrounds to make the interface look spacious. Realme also offers tons of customisation options such as icons packs, themes, and various transitions effects to customise the interface. These phones also support Android 10 gestures, that make navigating through apps and menus on this large screen phone easier. Realme now also includes a dedicated Game Space feature, that optimises RAM and power consumption when gaming. It also streamlines notifications, for an uninterrupted gaming experience.

The Realme X3 and X3 Zoom come with four cameras at the rear. The primary 64MP camera has an 1/1.7 aperture that lets you click great low-light pictures. The secondary 8MP ultra wide-angle camera has a 119-degree, field-of-view. This lens should be great for clicking landscapes and architecture shots. These phones also have a 2MP macro camera, that focuses on subjects from as close as 3 cm. Both devices sport telephoto lenses for zoom photography. The Realme X3’s 12MP tele-photo camera offers up to 2X optical zoom while the X3 Zoom’s 8MP periscopic camera can offer up to 5X optical zoom along with 60X digital zoom.

Both devices house a dual-selfie camera. The X3 has a 16MP unit while the X3 Zoom uses a higher resolution 32MP unit. Both cameras support wide-angle, which makes them ideal for clicking group selfies. Realme’s camera app also offers tons of features such as AI recognition, advanced HDR mode, and automatic colour correction. It also has a Pro mode, which lets users take control of camera controls such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and more. Both devices can record up to 4K videos at 60 fps.

The Realme X3 and X3 Zoom also play strong on the connectivity front. These phones are Dual-SIM LTE devices, and they come with Wi-Fi 802.11ac for strong internet connectivity. Both phones also feature Bluetooth 5.0, for connecting to audio solutions and peripherals. Realme claims these phones are among the first mid-range smartphones to sport a Dual-Frequency GPS, which will make navigation using apps such as Google Maps even more accurate. These phones also promise to sound good with their dual-stereo speakers that also support Dolby Atmos. Both devices come with 4,200 mAh battery, to offer up to 30 hours of standby time. The devices use 30W Dart Charge, which can fully charge the device in under an hour.

The Realme X3 and X3 Zoom blurs the line between high-end and mid-range smartphones. With prices starting from Rs. 24,999, these phones have the perfect blend of features and performance. In fact, premium flagship features, such as 120Hz refresh rate screens truly makes the Realme X3 and X3 Zoom, solid mid-range contenders.
