Oppo Pad Air – A premium mid-range tablet for everyone

It’s not every day we see good Android tablets. Most are upper-end models that are simply too expensive, sometimes even exceeding Rs. 60,000. A few options closer to Rs. 10,000 are present, but with smaller and inferior screens. Build quality can be spotty, and some models even lack a half-decent web camera, making online calling and education difficult. There has always been a huge gap between entry-level and high-end Android tablets, and Oppo is trying to fill it with its new Pad Air.

The Oppo Pad Air offers a nice blend of design, performance and feature, at a price that is accessible to everyone. It looks like a very well-designed tablet with a display that could compete with high-end tablets. If you are a student, an office-goer or just want a tablet for entertainment, the Oppo Pad Air seems to have it all. Here’s all about it.

The Oppo Pad Air comes with a 10.3-inch IPS display. The screen offers a 2K resolution of 2,000 x 1,200. Where most tablets in this segment ship with HD screens, this is surely a big upgrade for mid-range tablets. The display uses an IPS panel, so you get vibrant colours and good viewing angles. Oppo also gives an option to customise the colour temperature, so you can have a personalised experience. This large screen is perfect for watching movies and TV shows. You can also comfortably work on emails and view PDFs.

Gamers will also appreciate the Pad Air’s vibrant display quality and its 120Hz touch sampling rate. With more display area, you can quickly spot your opponents in games like Call of Duty: Mobile and better arrange on-screen controls for a comfortable gaming experience. The display supports 1 billion colours and delivers up to 360 nits of peak brightness. The Oppo Pad Air is TUV Rheinland certified to reduce blue light to protect your eyes from extended screen time. Oppo says the display supports 2048 automatic brightness levels to ensure there is less stress on your eyes during pro-longed content watching and gaming.

The display also supports the Oppo Stylus Pen, so students can sketch and take notes on their tablet. It also features a 1W quad-speaker setup to ensure content sounds good as it looks. Oppo says the tablet uses 0.8cc sound chambers for a loud and crisp audio experience.

The Oppo Pad Air is among the most premium-looking mid-range tablets. It comes with an all-metal chassis, which is more durable than polycarbonate body tablets. The rear of the tablet also has a sand-dune-like texture to add a more premium look and feel to it. The tablet has rounded edges, so you can easily hold it while watching content and playing games. Despite being all metal, the device only weighs about 440g. It is also just 6.94 mm thick, making it thinner than some of the flagship smartphones.

The Oppo Pad Air also excels when it comes to specifications. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 CPU, found on many mid-range smartphones. This CPU is equipped enough to handle everyday workloads smoothly. You can surf the internet, open multiple apps and play videos from platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime smoothly. This CPU is also enough to handle games like Asphalt 9: Airborne, Minecraft and Genshin Impact.

The device is offered in two configurations – the base model with 64GB of storage and the higher-end model with 128 GB. Both models have 4 GB of RAM which should be enough for everyday multitasking needs. However, the device also supports a Virtual RAM feature that lets you add up to 3 GB of additional RAM, resulting in an even smoother multitasking experience. The tablet also supports a microSD card, allowing storage expansion up to 512 GB. The tablet has an 8MP rear camera which is good enough for scanning documents. The front comes equipped with a 5 MP camera for web calling. Both cameras support full HD video recording.

The Oppo Pad Air runs Android 12 and uses Oppo’s latest ColorOS UI. Oppo says the UI has been tweaked for the Pad Air to make the most use of its large screen size. It has a dual windows mode that lets you run two apps on the same screen at once. A Multi-Device Connection feature allows you to use the Pad Air as your phone’s secondary screen. You can cast your phone’s screen on the tablet and seamlessly drag and drop files between them.

The Oppo Pad Air also offers an excellent battery life with its 7,100 mAh battery. Oppo claims the device delivers up to 15 hours of video calls or 12 hours of video playback on a single charge. The device also supports 18W fast charging to reduce the charging times of this massive battery.

The Oppo Pad Air is truly a great tablet for everyone. Its design and build quality are significantly better than the competition. The device is lightweight too, which means students and office users can easily carry it while travelling. The tablet’s display is also top-notch, and its CPU ensures smooth performance delivery. Oppo is also promising up to 3 years of OS updates making the Pad Air a future-proof purchase. The device is priced at Rs. 19,999* and is now available at www.reliancedigital.in.
