MSI GF75 Thin – 17-inch gaming laptops but affordable!

We recently spoke about MSI’s entrance into the Indian market, and their entry-class of laptops, the Modern 14. It makes for a great daily-use computing device, but for those of us who wish to game, the Modern 14 may not cut it. MSI has a range of gaming laptops called the GF75 Thin. While they are meant for gamers, creative folk who need to use graphics and video editing software should find them to be a great, affordable solution. What’s more, these are meant to be thin and light laptops so you can carry them with you wherever you go.
There are two MSI GF75 Thin laptops models you can find at Reliance Digital, here on reliancedigital.in and at your nearest store. They are the GF75 Thin 10SC-087 and the GF75 Thin 10SC-095. They are quite similar in most aspects, with possibly the only difference being the processor they ship with. The lower-priced 10SC-087 model runs a 10th generation Intel Core i5 10300H processor, while the more expensive 10SC-095 runs a faster Intel Core i7 10750H. On paper, there are differences. The Core i5 processor runs four cores, and eight threads, while the Core i7 model is a 6-core processor, running 12 threads. The Core i5 model is clocked a tad lower, and on Turbo does not match up to the Core i7. In practical use-case scenarios, the Core i7 is good if you are a content creator, who needs to use video and photo editing tools even 3D modeling software. Since these are laptops meant for gaming, the differences in frame rates should not be as drastic since they both use the same graphics solution. CPU performance doesn’t affect game performance as much as graphics solutions, but they do affect rendering speeds while working on content creation software. Both laptops run 8 GB of RAM as standard, which should be enough for most software and games. The good news is that laptops do support upgrading the memory up to 64GB. There are two RAM slots on these laptops.
The thing that makes the MSI GF75 Thin so special is its screen size. Unlike most gaming laptops that ship with 13 and 15-inch displays, the GF75 Thin trumps them with its 17.3-inch display. That makes a world of difference, especially if you were not intending on gaming on an external display. The laptops run a full HD resolution, which is quite comfortable on a larger screen. As every gaming laptop should, it runs a much higher refresh rate. This improves the visuals, ridding them of screen tearing, a phenomenon where horizontal cutting lines are seen when the graphics solution on the device renders frame rates much higher than the refresh rate of the monitor. The benefits are great while watching movies as well, while scrolling through pages and more. This is a nice feature to have on a laptop that is not particularly expensive. The aesthetics are also improved, with the bezels being minimal and even across all sides. MSI boasts of the laptop’s great screen-to-body ratio of 88 per cent. The audio solution paired with the display is also something, supporting Hi-Res Audio, with quality output as high as 192 kHz / 24-bit. The improvement in audio quality should be noticeable, especially if you use high-quality earphones, headphones, and speakers.

The gaming performance comes courtesy of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650. This is a potent powerhouse, and it should run most modern titles without much trouble. If you are someone who enjoys playing competitive titles such as DOTA 2 and Counter strike: Global Offensive, this laptop should suit you. The storage onboard is another notable feature. The 512 GB solid-state drive is not just fast, light, noise and vibration-free, it is also large. Unlike other laptops that come with small solid-state drives, the MSI GF75 can let you store and run a ton of software and games. You will not have to worry about conserving space and being overly careful about which titles you install on these laptops.
The MSI GF75 Thin runs a massive battery too, that MSI claims can run 6 hours on their test configuration. Actual performance might differ based on the kind of software and games you run on it. The whole laptop is kept cool, with the help of a thorough cooling setup. MSI uses 7 heat pipes between the CPU and GPU to evenly transfer and dissipate heat. This is a feat well achieved, since the GF75 Thin as the name suggests is slim, and thin. For a gaming laptop, it is impressive that it is only 23.1 mm at its thickest point.
MSI has also put effort into the kind of software it ships with the laptop. The MSI APP, for example, is built alongside Bluestacks, a solution that lets you run Android games on the laptop. What’s more, the MSI GF75 comes pre-installed with Windows 10, and it also has the TPM hardware needed when you decide to complete the free upgrade to Windows 11.

Connectivity is up to 2022 standards. The wireless setup is completed by an 802.11ax capable chip, and Bluetooth 5.1 is present too. There is wired Ethernet as well if you prefer it. There are also a range of USB 3.2 Type-A ports and even a Type-C port to connect peripherals and accessories. The HDMI port can output to a 4K TV, at 30Hz. The keyboard is also well fledged out complete with a numerical pad, backlighting and more. There is so much going for this laptop, it’s surprising it’s priced the way it is.

So, that completes the MSI GF75 Thin. It is a great package, bringing in things we are not used to seeing on gaming laptops at this price. You get a larger screen with a high refresh rate, processor options that hit well above their weight, even a massive solid-state drive. The MSI GF75 Thin laptops are now available at your nearest Reliance Digital store, should you want to take a closer look. If you want to get one in your hands as soon as you can, you could order one right away here at reliancedigital.in.
