HP Spectre X360 – Still carrying the bond factor

Most laptops from nearly a decade back were bulky and made of plastic. The HP Spectre series of laptop were one of the first to bring a change to how we see laptops. It was the first to use metal and glass, a combination users had never seen before. This Bond movie-inspired laptop had style, features and specs ahead of its time. HP is offering the equation even today in the form of the newly launched Spectre X360. HP claims it to be a major upgrade over the 2021 model. It brings a whole new design, updated specs and features making it one of the most premium laptops in the 2-in-1 category.

Design is undeniably the most striking feature of the Spectre X360. It looks stealthier than its predecessor with its slimmer chassis. It is also lighter so there is no lugging it around. Unlike last year’s model with sharp edges, this one comes with curvier, softer edges. Holding it is nicer, especially while using it in the tablet mode.

The Spectre X360 is constructed using CNC machined-recycled aluminium. HP says the laptop is extremely durable and should take on the occasional bump and rough use. Since it’s a 2-in-1 laptop, it has a stronger hinge than traditional laptops. This prevents the display from wobbling. The HP Spectre X360 comes in three colours – Nightfall Black, Nocturne Blue, and Natural Silver. Since all shades sport a matte finish, you can easily wipe fingerprints and smudges.

The display quality is also as stunning as a high-end TV. It comes with a BrightView OLED panel running a resolution of 3,000 x 2,000px. The display covers 100 per cent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and supports premium features like HDR. It also uses HP’s Auto Colour feature to calibrate colours. The display also supports up to 500 nits of brightness, which means content should be visible outdoors under broad daylight. The screen is also treated with an anti-reflective coating to improve visibility in brightly lit rooms.

This 13.5-inch OLED display has an edge-to-edge panel, offering the device a premium look. Since it is a 3:2 display, you get more screen area that comes in handy while going through webpages, documents and large spreadsheets. The display comes with Gorilla Glass protection, so there is no need to worry about accidental scratches. HP is offering an affordable variant of the device with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1280px. Both models support the HP Stylus pen with MPP 2.0 technology to ensure enhanced screen response times.

The device comes in two variants, a base model with an Intel Core i5-1235U, a 10-core CPU offering max speeds up to 4.4 GHz. The high-end variant has an Intel Core i7-1255U 10-core CPU, offering slightly more power of 4.7 GHz. Both CPUs are extremely powerful and are capable of smoothly handling heavy workloads.

The laptop comes with the Intel Iris Xe graphics solution, which is strong enough to run creative apps like Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Lightroom. Though it’s not a gaming laptop, you can play slightly some light-weight gaming titles without troubles. The device comes with 16 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 512 GB of SSD storage. HP has also introduced a Smart Thermal Management system that claims to keep the laptop’s temperature low even under heavy workloads.

The laptop also has an impressive battery life despite its thin profile. It comes with a 66Wh battery, which HP claims can last up to 13 hours on video playback. The laptop supports fast charging, that should make charging times much lower.

This 2022 model retains all the ports from its predecessor despite its slimmer chassis. There are two Thunderbolt 4 ports for charging the device and connecting external monitors. These ports can be also used for superfast data transferring. The device comes with a USB Type-A port, so you can connect peripherals like a mouse, keyboard or printer. The laptop also has a microSD card and a 3.5 mm audio jack. On the wireless front, the device has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

HP Spectre X360 also has the best-in-class web camera. Where most full HD webcams use 2 MP sensors, the Spectre sports a 5 MP one for improved picture quality. It allows features like Auto Frame to do better digital cropping without losing the picture quality. This 2022 model also comes with an updated keyboard design as well which is more accurate than the last year’s model. The trackpad is also larger for more comfortable multi-touch inputs.

The HP Spectre X360 is the most premium 2-in-1 laptop you can buy today. It screams premium-ness from all angles and is also built well for everyday usage. With powerful Intel 12th generation CPUs and stunning OLED displays, the new Spectre X360 truly leads its segment. The laptop will be soon available at www.reliancedigital.in.
