OnePlus is a popular brand and the excitement for it grew with the launch of an affordable high-end phone, the OnePlus 5. It doubled in the past two years with the launch of the OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6 and then the OnePlus 6T. This year, OnePlus launched a premium set of OnePlus 7 phones which were excellent offerings with incredible value for money. Every OnePlus phone inherits the best hardware and features, packed into an affordable package. The best example of this is the recently launched OnePlus 7T. It brings the goodness of the previous flagship, OnePlus 7 Pro with many of its features, design but at an affordable price.

A fabulous 90 Hz screen

The difference between 60Hz and 90Hz display is especially noticeable when launching and scrolling through apps, browsing through long webpages, feeds and photo galleries. That’s not all, every gaming titles from racing to multi-player shooting games turn more responsive on this massive edge-to-edge screen. The 90Hz display is truly a wonderful experience, which you simply cannot deny. Going back to 60Hz screens is just not fun anymore.

Powerful and futuristic cameras

To offer bigger and edge-to-edge screen, OnePlus has smartly hidden the 16MP front camera into the body of the OnePlus 7 Pro. This is smaller than the outgoing model. On the back is a triple camera setup, which includes a 48MP primary camera, a 16MP ultra-wide angle camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. The new OnePlus 7T is pretty much identical to the 7 Pro in terms of camera features, except for the placement. The front-facing camera has a room inside the water drop notch, whereas the triple camera setup are securely placed in a circular housing at the back.

Capturing photos using the 7T was fun. The macro lens on this phone is particularly great for object or food photography. The wide-angle cameras on the 7T stays just as impressive as the OnePlus 7 too. They are ideal for clicking architecture, scenic locations and group photos. In fact, the OnePlus 7T is master at shooting 4K videos at 60fps and super slow-motion videos in 740p at 480fps. OnePlus claims it’ll shoot 960fps footage at 720p after a future update. These are truly insane features to have on a phone at this price.

Warp charging gets a boost

Phones with higher capacity batteries are common these days and those supporting wireless charging are a boon. Phones with higher refresh rate screens are impressive and to run smoothly they require high processing power, better software optimization and battery. Inside the OnePlus 7 Pro is a massive 4000 mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30, whereas the 7T is equipped with 3800 mAh of battery which is slightly smaller than the 7 Pro but has Warp Charge 30T support. The lower screen resolution, but large battery with other optimisations can make the 7T a far superior performer. OnePlus claims Warp Charge 30T to be the fastest warp charging feature ever, which can charge the phone from 0 to 70 per cent in 30 minutes. That kind of charge is enough to take you through the entire day too.

Outstanding brute performance

Like the 7 Pro, the OnePlus 7T is packed with the latest hardware and an immersive screen, so you can relish its silky-smooth performance. The 7 Pro was packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, whereas the formula of the top-notch performance in the new OnePlus 7T is the fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ along with 8GB of RAM. This certainly means better, real-world performance when multitasking between apps or playing games. Everything you do on the OnePlus phones will look and feel snappier. You need to try it out for yourself!

In a graphics test we ran, the 7T was able to score an overall OpenGL score of 5719 and Vulkan score of 5070. The score is impressive, considering the 7 Pro scored 5690 and 5010 in the same tests. That’s not all, playing PUBG on these phones was a great experience, because the gameplay just feels smooth and snappier because of the processing power and the faster refresh rates.

Compelling new design

The OnePlus 7T inherits elements of the design from the OnePlus 7 Pro. The 7T comes with a 6.6-inch AMOLED screen, which is slightly larger than the OnePlus 7 Pro’s 6.5-inch screen. These phones have Gorilla glass at the back and front, with slightly different camera setups. The front-facing camera on the OnePlus 7 Pro is placed inside the body, which pops-up only when you want to click selfies. OnePlus uses the motor mechanism to pop the camera out. On the rear of the 7 Pro is a triple camera setup, with the cameras stacked vertically. The 7T has the selfie camera placed in a tiny notch, while the triple rear cameras are placed horizontally in a circular housing.

Though the construction of the OnePlus 7T and the 7 Pro is quite similar, the colours are different. The OnePlus 7T is available in three striking colours – Mirror Gray, Nebula Blue and Almond, whereas the 7 Pro comes in Glacier Blue and Frosted Silver. The OnePlus 7T brings along features that made the 7 Pro a premium device. The 7T is now is among the best value-for-money devices you can buy, so why wait when you can go see it in action at your closest Reliance Digital store?
