Dell’s Inspiron series of laptops sit between their gaming and XPS range. Dell’s new Inspiron 7400 promises to take things their performance in a budget formula to the next level. It absorbs features from its flagship siblings, resulting in an all-rounder ultrabook. It boasts an all-new design and future-ready hardware for a solid performance.  

Dell has managed to shred loads of access fat on the new Inspiron 7400 laptop. It is a 14.5-inch laptop in a 13.5-inch chassis that weighs 1.2 kg and 14.2mm in thickness. This means you can conveniently slip it into a sleeve or backpack and carry it around. The device uses a magnesium-alloy chassis, so portability comes without sacrificing robustness. The display has a solid hinge, and opens to an angle of 160 degrees. Fully opening the lid raises the laptop by a bit, for a better typing position. The laptop is available in a Platinum Silver colour, and it has a matte finish that keeps fingerprints away.  

The laptop has a LED-backlit keyboard, with the keys having a 1.3mm travel. Dell says the keyboard’s spacious layout provides a comfortable typing experience. The trackpad’s size is spot on, and it is one of the largest among Windows laptops. It has a glass finish so you can effortlessly glide your fingers. There is also Windows Precision Drivers supports for seamless multitasking.

 The Dell Inspiron 7400 has a 14.5-inch QHD+ display (2560 x 1600). The screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio that makes it 13.2 per cent larger than the previous generation model. The increased workspace means you can place more apps side-by-side and have a more immersive content viewing experience. The Dell Inspiron 7400’s display is also perfect for content creators. It supports 100 per cent sRGB, which makes it ideal for running photo editing and colour correction tools. The display also supports Dolby Vision HDR that can deliver highlights that are up to 40 times brighter and blacks that are up to 10 times darker. The device has up-firing speakers that direct sound towards your ears, making the content watching experience more immersive.  

The Dell Inspiron 7400 is a powerhouse. It runs the Intel 11th generation Core i7-1165G7 CPU that offers max speeds up to 4.70 GHz. The laptop can easily handle web building tools and everyday apps without any performance lag. It has 16GB of RAM for multitasking, and there is also a 512GB SSD that enables quick booting and loading of software. 

The Dell Inspiron 7400 isn’t a gaming laptop, but its NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card will let you play games such as Fortnite, GTA V, Rocket League and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The graphics card is more suitable for running professional tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Autodesk Maya.  

Dell has also introduced a new Adaptive Thermal technology to keep the laptop’s temperature low. It uses advanced algorithms and accelerometers that detect whether the laptop is in your hands, lap or desk. It intelligently adapts its thermal profile to the situation and manages the heat output for improved comfort.  

The Dell Inspiron 7400 also aces in connectivity. It has a Thunderbolt 4 port that lets you connect an 8K monitor and up to two 4K monitors. You can also use this port to charge the device. The laptop also has an HDMI port for connecting an external monitor or projector. There are also two USB 3.1 ports for connecting external drives, and USB-supported accessories. You also get a microSD card slot, so you can transfer photos from your smartphone or action camera. The laptop has Wi-Fi 6 wirelessly to routers. There is also Bluetooth 5.1 for connecting audio and other peripherals.  

The Dell Inspiron 7400 runs on Windows 10 Home OS and it comes with free lifetime support for Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019. The laptop also comes preinstalled with Dell Mobile Connect. It lets you seamlessly transfer files, photos, videos, music, and documents between your PC and phone without cables. The app also allows to make calls, send texts, and receive notifications from the laptop. 

The laptop also promises excellent battery life. It comes with a 4-cell 52Whr battery that Dell claims will give you up to 12 hours of battery life. This means the laptop can go for a full workday without a recharge.
