Asus is a brand that isn’t afraid of trying new things. Take the Asus ZenBook Duo for example, a laptop with a dual screen – something no one imagined, but Asus’ precise engineering made it possible. It didn’t just look good but also offered practicality. It was an instant hit among students and creators. Asus’s newest experiment commemorates the 25th anniversary of the first Asus laptop in space.

It’s called the Asus ZenBook 14X Space Edition, and it is unlike any other ZenBook laptops we have seen so far. It has spacecraft-inspired elements and also packs in powerful hardware like one. With its design and plethora of practical features, this laptop offers a lot more than the traditional model. Here is all you need to know about it.

Most of us are reluctant to new ideas but the Asus ZenBook 14X Space Edition is undeniably unique. Its lid for example, sports a 3.5-inch Asus ZenVision OLED display that shows the time, battery life, and even messages. You can also display custom messages along with animations. There is also a provision to display a QR code in case you want to share webpages or payment links.

The laptop is also constructed like a spacecraft. It is based off an aluminium chassis with brushed edges for a premium look. Asus says the device complies with the ultra-tough US Space Systems Command Standard testing protocols and is also torture-tested for resistance to extreme vibration and temperatures. Additionally, it also meets MIL-STD 810H durability standards. While there are fewer chances of us taking this laptop to space, we likely will carry it on crowded trains and buses, without worrying about accidental bumps.

The laptop is made available in Zero-G Titanium colour, a shade commonly seen on advanced-grade space crafts. This laptop’s packaging doubles up as a laptop stand, lifting the device at a 23-degree angle for a more comfortable typing experience. This innovative sustainable design reduces packaging waste making the device an eco-friendly buy.

Like most ZenBook laptops, this space edition variant also maintains a slim and lightweight profile. Despite this, it comes with all the ports you would require from a modern-day laptop. On the right, there is a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone and a USB 3.2 Type-A port for connecting peripherals. On the left, is an HDMI port and two Thunderbolt 4 ports for quick transfer speeds and for connecting multiple 4K monitors. The laptop supports the USB Type-C Easy Charge feature. This allows you to use any Type-C charger to juice up the battery.

The Asus ZenBook 14X Space Edition also packs in space-grade hardware. The base model runs the Intel Core i5-12500H CPU, while the top-end model comes with an Intel Core i7-12700H processor. Both chipsets are extremely powerful and can handle heavy workloads without breaking a sweat. They come with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and sport Intel’s Iris Xe integrated graphics solution.

On the storage side, the Core i5 model runs a 512 GB SSD, while the Core i7 variant has a 1 TB SSD drive. To cool the device under heavy load, Asus has equipped the ZenBook 14X Space Edition with 6 mm and 8 mm heat pipes along with dual 87-blade fans that boost heat transfer. Asus says each fan has a 3D-curved aerodynamic design to improve airflow rate. The fans also use a fluid-dynamics bearing to reduce vibration and deliver a noise-free operation.

The display of the device is also simply impressive. It’s a 14-inch 2.8K (2880 x 1800) resolution screen, sporting a touch screen OLED panel. This screen has been Pantone-validated also is also TUV Rheinland certified for its low blue light and flicker-free technology. It’s a great display to work on colour correction work with minimal eye strain. The display also comes with VESA HDR certification and supports up to 550 nits of peak brightness. This OLED screen is a 16:10 aspect ratio one and it supports a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth gaming and content-watching experience.

The device comes with a full-size backlit keyboard with keys offering 1.4 mm travel. It has a red-coloured power button doubling up as a fingerprint sensor. The trackpad also offers more surface area than most laptops in this segment. It also integrates Asus’ NumerPad feature for easy number crunching. Asus says it has been treated with a PVD anti-fingerprint coating that ensures resistance against wear and tear.

The Asus ZenBook 14X Space Edition runs on Windows 11. It comes installed with the MyAsus app that helps to maintain your system, update software, and optimize performance. A new GlideX feature has also been added for quickly mirroring the laptop’s screen on a bigger display. It also includes a Screen Extend feature for turning your tablet into a secondary display on the go.

The Asus ZenBook 14X Space Edition is one of the most futuristic-looking laptops. Its in-built OLED display quickly helps it stand out from the crowd. The laptop is also powerful, and its excellent OLED display makes it a perfect choice for creators, gamers as well as office goers. The Intel Core i5 variant starts from Rs. 1,17,999*, while the top-end model is priced at Rs. 1,38,999*.
