Oppo’s Reno series smartphones slot themselves well between the mid to high-end mobile segment. The newly announced Oppo Reno 6 and 6 Pro continues the brand’s efforts to push the boundaries further. They are marketed towards a more youthful audience, with the device boasting high-end specifications such as large batteries AMOLED screens. These phones also come with flagship-grade cameras, a rare feature at this price point. So, what all things make the Reno 6 and 6 Pro different from its rivals?

The Oppo Reno 6 and 6 Pro aim to bring flagship-grade photography to mid-range devices. They come with a 64MP primary camera, backed by an 8MP ultrawide snapper and two 2MP modules for depth and macro photography. The primary camera has an f/1.7 aperture for low light photography. It also supports EIS and 4K video recording at 30fps. Oppo has introduced a new AI Highlight Video mode to make video recording effortless. It brightens footage in low light or applies an HDR effect in the day, depending on the amount of light in your scene. There’s also Ultra Steady Video mode for recording cinematic shots.

Both the phones’ secondary cameras offer a 120-degree field-of-view. It lets you photograph skyscapes, cityscapes, and wide-panoramic landscapes. You can click wide selfies and record full HD videos using the 32MP front camera. The Picture-in-Picture mode lets you record from both front and rear cameras simultaneously. This can be a great feature if you shoot video tutorials or record lifestyle and travel vlogs.

If you are a power user, the Reno 6 Pro can be an easy choice. It runs the MediaTek MT6893 Dimensity 1200, a 6nm processor which is extremely fast and power-efficient. So whether it is high-end games, or apps you’re running, this phone can handle everything. You get two configurations to choose from, 128GB storage with 8GB of RAM or 256GB storage with 12GB of RAM. The Mali-G77 MC9 GPU further strengthens the performance, so you can play games such as Battlegrounds Mobile India, Call of Duty: Mobile, Fortnite and Asphalt 9: Airborne with the best graphic settings. The phone also comes with a new X-axis Linear motor that enhances the feedback during gaming sessions.

If absolute high-end performance isn’t your need, the Reno 6 should suffice. It runs on the MediaTek MT6877 Dimensity 900 that delivers enough power to run everyday apps. It comes with 8GB of RAM and has 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage which makes launching apps and transferring data a lot quicker.

The Reno 6 has a 6.4-inch screen, while the Pro model has a slightly bigger 6.5-inch screen. They use AMOLED panels for deeper blacks, better contrast and punchier colours and picture quality. The screens support 90Hz refresh rates that make gaming on them a fun experience. What’s even more surprising is the screen’s HDR10+ support. HDR makes colours and details pop, so you can enjoy watching compatible content from streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.

There is a lot these phones offer to fine-tune the display to your liking. You can adjust the screen’s colour temperature for watching the content without straining your eyes. The screen also produces 800nits of peak brightness, make it readable outdoors. The phone has an on-screen fingerprint sensor for secure biometric authentication.

Oppo has taken some big design steps while building the new Reno 6 phones. The Pro model comes with a 3D curved edge design that resembles Oppo’s flagship Find X3 series smartphone. It is also just 7.6mm thin, that makes it among the slimmest mid-range smartphones available right now. The standard Reno 6 model has an all-new flat edge design for a cleaner and more modern look. Both phones are highly durable as they come with Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and back. This means you can travel, work and play without worrying about scratches and accidental bumps.

The thin and lightweight form factor also makes one-handed use easy. These phones are available in Black, Blue and Aurora colours. Oppo has also introduced a Purple variant of the Reno 6 for those who like funkier colours.

Both, the Reno 6 and Reno 6 Pro supports 5G networks, a feature that should make your purchase futureproof. They also come with Wi-Fi 6 for wireless internet connectivity. Both phones support Bluetooth 5.2 with A2DP and aptX for a rich wireless music listening experience. For power backup, the Reno 6 Pro 5G has a 4,500 mAh Li-ion battery while the Reno 6 comes with a slightly smaller 4,300 mAh battery. Both phones ship with a 65W fast charger and they support Oppo’s SuperVOOC 2.0 to achieve quick charging speeds.

The Oppo Reno 6 series phones excels at every front. They have a much better build quality and camera configuration than their rivals. Features such as its powerful CPU and 5G connectivity simply make the phones for a future-ready purchase. The Oppo Reno 6 and 6 Pro will be soon available for pre-order at www.reliancedigital.in and you can find more information at your nearest Reliance Digital store.
