Asus’ ROG series need no introduction. These high-end gaming laptops are known for their futuristic designs, beefy hardware and performance delivery. This year, Asus has launched its first-ever affordable ROG gaming laptop – the Strix G15. This laptop inherits many premium features from the upper-tier ROG laptops.

The Asus ROG Strix G15 looks like its pricier sibling, the Asus ROG Strix Scar III. The device comes with a wraparound light, a feature rarely seen on entry-level gaming laptops. It illuminates the front and sides of the chassis, and you can even personalize it to your liking using the Asus Aura Sync app. The laptop comes in three striking styles. The Original Black colour has a simple stealthy look, to blend easily in any environment. The Glacier Blue colour has a sci-fi inspired bright theme, while Asus has also introduced a new Electro Punk colour that gives the Strix G15 a futuristic look. The exteriors of the laptop are mostly made of plastic, except its aluminium lid. The Asus ROG Strix G15 weighs 2.2 kg, which makes it only 500 grams heavier than the Asus Zephyrus G14.

The Asus ROG Strix G15 comes with ample and cleverly placed ports. The power, HDMI, LAN, and Type-C ports are at the back of the laptop, for a cleaner looking setup. The laptop also comes with three USB 3.1 ports which offer faster data transfer speeds. You can also use them for connecting a gaming mouse or even an external keyboard. The laptop comes with the latest Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. It helps to maintain low latency, which is very important while you are playing online multiplayer games such as Battlefield V, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Fortnite.

The Asus ROG Strix G15 is available in two variants LI-HN177T and LU-HN195T. The LI-HN177T is the Strix G15’s entry-spec model that runs an Intel Core i5-10300H series processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB M.2 solid-state drive. The laptop houses the NVIDIA GeForce 1650 Ti graphics card, and these specifications are quite solid for running high-end games such as Call of Duty: Warzone, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Apex Legends and even the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. This graphics card will also handle image, video and 3D modelling tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator and Autodesk Maya.

The LU-HN195T variant of the laptop has high-tier specs such as the Intel Core i7- 10750H processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB M.2 solid-state drive. It also has the more powerful NVIDIA GeForce 1660 Ti graphics card. This maxed-out variant of the Asus ROG Strix G15 will yield more performance, and it is good if you are looking for a future-ready laptop. Asus also officially supports aftermarket upgrades, and both models come with an additional M.2 NVMe slot for storage expansion.

Gaming laptops often tend to heat up, but it is unlikely with the Asus ROG Strix G15. These are the first entry-level laptops to sport liquid metal cooling that promises to keep the laptop’s temperature low during long gaming sessions. The laptops also house two large fans to increase the airflow and dissipate heat more efficiently. Asus claims the new dual fans are also quieter than the previous ROG laptops due to their thin-blade design.

The Asus ROG Strix G15’s display has minimal bezels, and they provide a 80.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The 15.6-inch full HD display supports 144Hz refresh rate, which is one of the essential features while looking at buying a gaming laptop. Going from a traditional laptop’s 60Hz to 144Hz screen feels instantly smooth and more responsive. It delivers stutter-free motion that can be a competitive advantage while playing fast-paced, online multiplayer games. The screen also supports NVIDIA G-Sync to reduce input lag and screen tearing issues. The screen uses an IPS-class panel that helps to deliver wider viewing angles and extreme colour accuracy.

The Asus ROG Strix G15’s keyboard looks like the one on the higher-tier ROG Strix Scar line-up. It uses a chiclet mechanism that provides 2 mm of key travel. The keys appear to be well-spaced, and the WASD keys are translucent giving the laptop its gaming character. The keyboard supports RGB backlighting which can be customised using the Asus Aura Creator app. It lets you choose between a variety of effects such as Breathing, Rainbow and Strobing. The app also has settings to sync the RGB with music being played on the laptop. The large trackpad comes with dedicated click keys for better feedback. The trackpad also supports Windows 10 gestures, which means you can swipe your fingers to multitask and switch between apps.

The Strix G15 is one of the most affordable ROG laptops. It makes a great buy for anyone looking for a versatile, robust, and powerful gaming laptop. The laptop has solid hardware, a good array of ports and it also has an efficient thermal cooling solution inherited from the high-tier and more expensive ROG laptops. Prices for the entry-level model starts at Rs. 87,999* and you can order yours from www.reliancedigital.in or at your nearest Reliance Digital store.
