Sony makes some of the best TVs around. Sony TVs were a household name in the 80s and 90s, and users still prefer them for their outstanding picture quality and overall reliability. The brand has now launched its 2021 line-up of 4K TVs, including the new X80J TV, an update to last year’s X800H. The new TV is one of Sony’s first to use the Google TV UI, and there are also lots of technical advancements that should result in a truly cinematic experience.

The X80J TV is part of Sony’s premium 4K TV line-up. The higher-end model comes with a large 65-inch screen, and it runs a 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160. The X80J TV sports a direct-lit LED panel, where several rows of LEDs are placed behind the entire surface of the screen allowing it to deliver better contrast, more brightness and deeper, uniform blacks for an immersive content viewing experience.

The X80J 4K TV gets its performance from Sony’s X1 CPU. The processor delivers fast performance and uses advanced algorithms to cut noise and boost details. Sony says the CPU also powers the 4K X-Reality PRO feature that upscales 2K and even full HD content to 4K. The TV also supports Sony’s TRILUMINOS PRO technology that balances saturation, hue and brightness to reproduce natural shades. The TV also includes a light sensor that optimises picture brightness to the ambient lighting.

The Sony X80J 4K TV also supports premium features such as HDR10+. Unlike most TVs, where contrast is only adjusted along one black-to-white contrast curve, the X80J TV uses a new object-based HDR Remaster feature that adjusts the contrast by analysing every object on the screen. Sony says this feature allows the TV to render the picture with greater depth, textures and details. The TV also comes with an updated MotionFlow XR feature that lets you enjoy sharp details even in fast-moving sequences. It inserts extra frames between the original ones for a blur-free and truly cinematic look. The TV also promises to render rich audio with Sony’s new X-Balanced Speaker technology. There are two 10W speakers with Dolby Atmos support. This means you can have a theatre-like experience at home.

The Sony X80J 4K TV runs on Google TV, with its redesigned user interface. It let users access all content through a single hub of recommended content by logging into their Google account. You can also get weather updates, sport scores and answers right on your TV. The TV even lets you view and control your compatible connected home devices with just your voice. The TV comes with popular content streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOmax, and Disney+ Hotstar. There are also more than 6,500 compatible apps across gaming, fitness, education, music and more. The TV also supports Google Stadia, so you can pair a gaming controller to the TV like you would a gaming console.

The Sony X80J 4K TV also works with Alexa-enabled devices for seamless hands-free control. You can power up your TV, change channels, control the volume with simple voice commands. The TV also supports Apple AirPlay, a feature typically seen on expensive OLED TVs. It lets you stream video, audio and share photos with everyone in the room right from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. There is also support for Apple HomeKit, allowing you to control smart devices from your TV.

The Sony X80J 4K TV uses unique recyclable SORPLAS plastic. Sony says the material makes the TV more environment friendly while also offering durability. The TV has a top-notch design, and it has narrow bezels for a more modern and premium look. It has a brush metal finish, and cut-outs for wire management at the rear. The TV supports Sony’s X-Protection PRO technology that makes it resistant to dust, humidity and also safeguards the device from lightning strikes and power surges. The TV can be placed on flat surfaces using its Slim Blade stand, and Sony also bundles a wall mounting kit, so need not worry about buying additional accessories.

The Sony X80J 4K TV has three HDMI ports, one of which supports the ARC feature. All the other connections such as the three USB ports, composite inputs for older hardware and optical output for audio devices are also present. The device uses Wi-Fi 802.11ac for wireless connectivity to the home network and internet.

Sony has managed to turn heads with their 2021 releases, and the new X80J 4K TV is surely one of them. The TV is available for Rs. 129,990* at www.reliancedigital.in and your nearest Reliance Digital store.
