Lenovo Tab P11 Pro – Right up there with the big guns

The tablet space in India is dominated by a few brands. Lenovo has had a presence, but it’s popular for products priced under Rs. 20,000 for budget consumers. Lenovo makes some of the most professional and premium products around too, such as their ThinkPad line of laptops so it’s no surprise that the new Lenovo Tab P11 Pro caught our eye. This is no everyday casual tablet; it seems designed to handle more than just the everyday video playback apps. It is also priced at Rs. 42,990* so that begs the question, what do you get for your money?
The P11 Pro has a massive 11.5-inch screen unlike most affordable tablets. The display is complemented by an equally impressive resolution of 2560 x 1600, and it is no shoddy LCD panel. It runs an OLED display like every other premium tablet or smartphone. The resolution is so high for a small screen, it is denser than most laptop displays too. The display is great because you can run all kinds of applications, multi-task. The density of the screen lends itself wonderfully to text, images, and videos. The detail should stand out especially when you are using the tablet so close. What’s more, the display is certified for Dolby Vision and a few other HDR standards. There is also TUV Rheinland’s eye comfort certification, that ensures that the screen doesn’t strain your eyes over hours of watching content on it. The display supports 10-finger touch, which is great if you are going to be gaming on it or using finger gestures to navigate around the tablet.
Audio performance comes from four JBL speakers designed alongside Dolby Atmos. This gives you a surround-like sound which should be great for movies. Regardless of what you use the Tab P11 Pro for, you can enjoy quality audio, if you don’t use earphones. The front-facing camera isn’t without its smart wizardry either. The camera can detect your face and blur out the rest, but this happens at a hardware level. You can also use the same camera to unlock the device, adding to its security. The rear of the tablet has a 13MP autofocus camera, and a 5MP fixed focus one. The front-facing ones are a pair of 8MP fixed focus units. They are great for video calls with collegues at work, and friends and family. So, while you might not go out to shoot photos and videos on your Tab P11 Pro, all these cameras can come handy when you use them in augmented reality apps and games.
A display with a high resolution requires a lot of performance when you consider you have to run apps and games on it. Thankfully, the Tab P11 Pro is armed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G SoC (system on a chip), which has proven its worth in smartphones and other mobile devices. You can run everything, ranging from video calling apps, to games to work applications on it. The 6GB of onboard memory also helps with running many apps simultaneously. The Tab P11 Pro has 128GB of onboard storage, ample for installing all kinds of apps and games, even storing movies and TV shows. Consistent and steady power delivery comes through the 8400 mAh battery onboard, which is present thanks to the larger form-factor of the P11. It also helps that the Snapdragon 730 SoC efficiently handles the performance, keeping in mind power consumption. Lenovo claims the P11 Pro will keep going 15 hours on a single charge with casual usual, which is quite extraordinary. Most laptops do not last that long. In reality, most of us are going to be charging a tablet like this quite rarely.

The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro is constructed out of an aluminum body, and it is built out of a single piece of metal. This gives it the rigidity needed to stand the kind of wear and tear of daily use. It is not ugly by any standards either. The bezels are thin, measuring just 6.9mm and the thickness of the tablet is about 5.8mm, which is also very impressive. Despite these dimensions, the tablet houses such a massive battery, it is quite impressive. You can move about easily at home or put it into a bag when you need to travel.
The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro is a great product in itself, but there are some Lenovo accessories that can really improve the experience. The first is the optional keyboard, that has 1.3mm of travel, and 3mm of spacing between keys. Typing can now be a joy on a tablet. What this also means is that you can enjoy a laptop-like experience on a tablet. Most workplaces have corresponding apps that can run on a tablet or smartphone. This means, you could work entirely out of the Tab P11 Pro if you wish. The other optional access is the Precision Pen 2. It isn’t just a cheap static pen. It can detect up to 4096 levels of pressure and tilt. It’s more accurate than the previous model, and you can use to jot down notes during office calls, or doodle when you’re free, or even use professional sketching and painting apps as a hobby.
The Tab P11 Pro runs Android 10, which by now is quite refined and secure. Other standard features include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, a speedy, and modern wireless networking standard. 4G is also part of the feature set and that gives you the freedom to travel, while still being connected. When you are home or at work, you can switch entirely to Wi-Fi. There is Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting peripherals wirelessly, or sound solutions. The power button on the tablet doubles as fingerprint scanner or securely logging into the device, like you see on many phones. There is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port on the device that should offer impressive data transfer speeds when you are not using it to charge the device.
While most tablets are casual pass-time, media consumption devices, the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro goes far and beyond. If you are considering a long-term tablet and do not mind around the price of a decent laptop, the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro should be right up your alley.
