If you plan on moving to a healthier lifestyle, then a good pair of shoes, track pants, headphones aren’t the only things you need. Fitness bands are an important tool. They can make a lot of difference. With the right fitness band and a smartphone, you can keep yourself healthy without having to invest in a gym subscription.

There’s plenty of competition in the market right now. With new players entering the market with their new offering, it’s getting a little difficult to choose one. However, when it comes to fitness, Fitbit is one the first names that comes to mind. In fact, they are one of oldest and the most popular ones.

Their wide range of fitness products has constantly been inspiring people to adapt a healthy lifestyle by choosing the right activities, food and even the right fitness tracker.

Which Fitbit to buy

Fitbit is all about fitness. Unlike other manufacturers who have only one or two fitness variants in their wearable assortments, Fitbit offers a whole range of wearable and other products. The one that suits you the most depends on the features you want in your fitness tracker. To give you an idea of what you can expect in terms of features and functions, we’ve have separated them in three segments.

Clip on

The Zip is the most affordable fitness trackers Fitbit has to offer. As the title says, it is a clip-on or rather a carry-on. These devices can either be carried in a pocket or can be clipped to a piece of your clothing like the belt or the collar of a T-shirt. They are easy-to-use and come with basic set of features.

The Zip comes with a built-in tracker that records the steps you’ve walked and the distance. You also get to know the calories you’ve burnt while doing so. The Zip comes with tap on screens that give you all information recorded by the sensor. You can set goals every day and break them by keeping an eye on your daily stats. The best part about the Fitbit Zip is the battery life. It is powered by a replaceable button cell that can last up to a good 6 months.

Wristbands

If you want something that can help you get fit but also looks stylish, then the Flex and Charge are more recommendable. Both devices are equipped with wristbands that make it easy to carry the tracker with you all the time. You also get two different bands of different sizes so you can choose the one you’re comfortable with. There are a wide range of colours to choose from that match your style.

It doesn’t just stop with the Flex. Fitbit and the popular fashion brand Tony Burch have come together in providing a lot more accessorising options for women. Just by removing the tracker, from the band, you can convert the flex into a fancy bracelet or even a pendent. It’s the perfect mix of style and fitness. Besides that, the Flex carries basic features like tracking footsteps and sleep hours, just like the Zip and the One. The tracker comes with LEDs that show your progress and indicates how far you are from achieving your goals.

The Charge on the other hand is a little more advanced. It features a small OLED screen that comes with its own advantages. With that by your side, you can quickly check your stats whenever you want, even while exercising. The screen also notifies you of incoming calls with the number displayed on the screen. An added advantage Charge has in terms of tracking, is the Auto Sleep Detection feature. Because of this, the device automatically tracks your sleep cycles, without you having to do it manually, which is the case with the One and the Flex. Both the Flex and Charge feature the silent wake alarm and have a battery life of more than 5 days.

Heart rate monitor

If you want something a little more high-end, then the Charge HR and Surge are made for you. Both devices feature a heart rate monitor which tracks your hearts beats per minute, giving you an accurate count of calories you’ve burnt, while undertaking different fitness activities during the day. The different heart rate zones help you keep the intensity high and make you push your limits when working out. The Charge HR boasts the same design and features as the Charge, but comes with the additional heart rate monitor. It also costs Rs. 3,000* more.

The Surge is ultimate fitness tracker you can find. Besides just tracking footsteps, the Surge also records data for other fitness activities, such as cardio, cycling, cross-training, hiking and many others. It has eight built-in sensors that will give you accurate and detailed information, no matter what you throw at it. It helps you measure your performance and track your improvements.

The Surge is also a good smartwatch by all means. Its 1.25-inch touchscreen lets you see your stats instantly, even on the go. You can get notifications for incoming calls and read text messages on it. It even features built-in GPS, so you not only get to see the distance you’ve covered but also the route you took. Music control is also available, which means you can directly change the track playing on smartphone and get that additional motivation needed, during intensive workouts.

Fitbit Aria is the smartest way of measuring your goals. Rather than just showing you your actual weight, it gives a reading of your body mass index, with accurate lean mass and body fat percentages. It even supports Wi-Fi, which means you can connect it with the Fitbit app and the get detailed charts and graphs on weight trends and the changes happening after few training sessions.

The device is smart enough to record data for eight people, which means the whole family can use it to achieve their individual fitness goals. You can even sync the Aria with any of the fitness trackers we’ve mentioned above.

Fitbit app and Dashboard

A good fitness tracker is nothing without its app. Every single information recorded by the app can be seen here and it’s important to have an app that lets you understand and use this information easily. The Fitbit app does this really well. It syncs data automatically to the app, so you can see your progress anytime. The app features a dashboard that gives you every details of your daily activities. You can keep a track of how many steps you have walked in a day and the amount of calories you’ve burnt in the process. The dashboard takes all the data and presents it into charts and graphs to help you understand your fitness trends easily.

Not only that, it even motivates you to perform better. You can set various challenges for the future and get recommendations from the app in achieving them. Log in the food you eat and keep a check on your calorie intake or create a monthly exercise calendar and log in individual workouts; the app keeps you on your toe all the time. It even lets you celebrate your achievements by assigning performance badges every time a task is completed.

You can even connect with other friends that have Fitbit trackers. Not just that, you can even compete with them by setting a daily tasks. The app lets you share stats with each other and even chat with them whenever you like. The app is available for all popular platforms, including Android, iOS and Windows Phone and is compatible up to more than 150 smartphones.
