Apple AirPods (3rd gen) – They got a lot smarter

Apple’s AirPods have been plugged into their ecosystem. The AirPods have come a long way, and while the AirPods Pro are among the most premium wireless earphones from Apple, the AirPods are what most of us will end up using. The third generation of the AirPods were announced at the recent Apple Macbooks event and they are right in time, considering that many of us are already considering the new range of iPhone 13s and iPads. The AirPods 3 should be available at Reliance Digital soon, and we are excited to tell you all about them.
One of the biggest talking points of the new AirPods is their spatial audio feature. It creates a 3-dimensional audio space in your head, so you feel truly immersed in the scene, whether it is a music track you are listening to, a podcast, or even an action-packed movie or show. You truly feel like you are sitting in a large movie theatre, amid the scene, unlike most earphones where they sound like they are tightly plugged into your ears sticking to your eardrums.
The audio quality has been improved too. One method Apple is doing this is Adaptive EQ. Apple uses microphones on the insides of the AirPods to figure what and how you are hearing, then it makes tweaks to the EQ, so the low and mid-range frequencies make the sound punchier, but also detailed. All of this happens seamlessly, so all you need to do is plug in your Airpods and get the music playing. Even the drivers used in the AirPods are powered by an amplifier that Apple put together. It has been engineered to deliver a punchy bass, clean highs and detailed mids. Not only are the AirPods smart in the way they function, but they are also at the foundation, hardware for a great sound.

When you take a call out in the open and there is a breeze blowing, or a fan in your face at your desk, the person on the other end of a call can have trouble hearing you. You will not have to move about now. The microphones have an intertwined mesh covering them that helps reduce the noise, so your voice is loud and clear.
The audio quality improvements are also while making voice calls. FaceTime calls now render HD voice with the help of a new AAC-ELD codec, that has made specifically for it. The FaceTime calling also makes use of the spatial audio that we spoke about a while back. Smartphones, tablets, and laptops have processors, even the AirPods has one. The AirPods run the H1 processor that is responsible for all the smarts behind the showcase of impressive automations. A simple ‘Hey Siri’ for example, summons the voice assistant, so you can ask it questions or tell it to do some tasks for you. If you are at home, you can use it to interact with your smart home automation system. If you happen to misplace the AirPods, buried in the gaps of your couch or bed, simply look up the Find My app to pinpoint, exactly where you lost them. If you happen to get out of Bluetooth range, you will know. You can even remotely play a sound on the AirPods which you can use then to find them.

The new Airpods may be better designed and sound better but there are other practical improvements to appreciate. Take for example, the battery life. A single charge should get you through six hours of listening, or taking calls, which is more than enough for most of us. The case adds up to 30 hours of listening time, so you will not need to keep recharging them all the time. Place them in the case and you should be ready to go in no time. In fact, Apple claims placing the AirPods in the MagSafe Charging case for five minutes will get you an hour of listening time.
The new AirPods as well as the MagSafe charging case are water resistant, thanks to their IPX4 rating. You should not go swimming wearing them, but heavy sweating through a difficult workout or a rainy day are no reasons to be worried. The physical construction of the AirPods is different too, now sporting shorter stems than the older AirPods. It should help you go well with your attire. Controlling the AirPods is easy too. The force sensor ensures you don’t need to reach out for your iPhone or iPad all the time. A single tap plays, pauses or answers an incoming call. Press it twice and you can skip the track, thrice, to skip backwards.
The AirPods can even detect when you are wearing them, or if you place them on a table, so the music or podcast only plays when you are wearing them. You won’t have to think about music accidentally playing if you happen to dump your AirPods into your pockets in a hurry. The smart features transition over to iPads and Macs. Now, you can pair your devices using iCloud, and if you happen to receive a call while you are using the Mac for example, you can receive the call with the AirPods already plugged in. You do not need to fumble with disconnecting them from the Mac, then connecting them to your iPhone. These are the kind of conveniences that make the Apple ecosystem so attractive. Oh, and if you and your friend, or significant other has a pair of AirPods too, you can play the same track using a single audio source device.

There is a lot to like in the new AirPods 3 and if you have been pushing back on buying them, now is a good time to consider getting them. If you are keen, then keep an eye out for them at RelianceDigital.in for pre-order and availability notifications. You can also contact your nearest Reliance Digital store for more information.
