The smartphone market has grown significantly in the last few years, and one of the key elements fueling it are camera advancements. Customers want camera performance in their future smartphones. These are not only photographers but also social media users who want to make visually appealing content. While some brands have been catering to this need with products at hefty prices, Vivo’s pricing has been consistently low.

The V90 Pro is one such camera phone bringing the best hardware from 2023 and a 1-inch camera sensor that claims to revolutionise photo and videography on the smartphone. But, how worthy are these claims, and where does the phone stand against well-established camera phones?

The Vivo V90 Pro is a show-stopper. It has a slim design with slightly curved front and back panels. The phone has a thin metal frame, which is flat enough on the edges to provide a good grip. The device is IP68-rated for dust and water-resistance, so you can use the phone without any worries on dusty and rainy days. The phone’s rear panel is made of plastic and has a vegan leather finish which looks stunning. It is also better than glass or ceramic backs, which can have poor grip and are susceptible to cracks. This phone also offers a circular camera housing giving the device a more professional-camera look.

The V90 Pro offers one of the best displays on a modern-day flagship device. It has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen running a 1,260 x 2,800 resolution and a pixel density of 453 ppi. It comes with 120 Hz refresh rate support, which means you get smooth gaming and UI experience. The screen supports the 10-bit colour depth so it can render over a billion colours. Vivo says the phone recognises all major HDR-capable streaming apps too.

Vivo offers four colour modes – Standard, Pro, Bright, and Zeiss Natural Colour. The Zeiss Mode also gives you the option to tweak colours to your preference. Vivo says all modes meet DCI-P3 colour standards. The X90 Pro has an optical fingerprint scanner behind its display. There is also support for face unlocking using the front camera.

The Vivo X90 Pro is one of the first flagship devices to house the latest Dimensity 9200 CPU. Its 4nm CPU offers ample performance and power efficiency improvements over the last year’s CPU. The device also comes with a speedy 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, taking care of all your multitasking speeds. With its UFS 4.0 storage for super-fast data transmission, you can experience quick loading times.

The Vivo X90 Pro has three cameras, a 50MP primary, a 50MP telephoto and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The primary camera uses a 50.3MP Sony IMX 989 1-inch sensor, which is said to be the largest sensor on a smartphone. Vivo says this enables greater details with accurate colours. This sensor also significantly improves clarity in low-light photography. This camera also has a laser-assisted autofocus, which is said to be quick and accurate even at night. You can also record 8K 24 FPS videos with the V90 Pro’s camera.

The secondary 50MP Sony IMX758 camera is impressive and has OIS, so you can zoom on objects with minimal shakiness. The 12MP camera offers a 108-degree FOV and is perfect for taking wide-angle photos and videos. The front camera is a 32MP unit that supports 60fps video recording. This phone is perfect for making travel vlogs as well as short format videos like YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.

The Vivo X90 Pro comes with a 4,870 mAh battery, significantly larger than last year, so you can expect the phone to last longer under everyday use. Vivo says the new device uses two separate cells to support the incredibly fast 120W fast charging feature. Vivo says the device can go from 0 to 50 per cent charge in just 8 minutes. A full charge takes about 24 minutes.

The phone runs on Vivo’s latest FunTouch OS based on Android 13. The UI is simple and promises a fluid and smooth experience. The OS also has an improved in-built Video Editor so users can edit their vlogs and videos easily.

The Vivo V90 Pro is one of the most appealing professional camera phones out there. The camera configuration is extremely powerful yet easy to use, making the device perfect for professionals as well as amateurs. The phone is also backed by a powerful CPU and an incredibly colour-accurate display, making the device a solid all-rounder. The phone will soon be available for pre-order at www.reliancedigital.in.
