We use our smartphones for pretty much everything today. It keeps us connected with our friends, lets us save and store memories. It’s our medium to entertainment and information and so much more. So it’s important for us to keep our smartphones up-to-date. That’s becoming a little difficult though. With technology moving so fast, devices are becoming obsolete before we even know it. There’s always a new OS update to look forward to, apps and games demand more storage, video sizes increase and so on. In the midst of this, we need a smartphone that can keep up with all of this. We’re sure you’ve felt this while using your current phones, so why should you just go out and buy a new phone? Here’s why we think you should…

It takes a lifetime to carry out even simple tasks

This is perhaps one of the first signs that you need a phone and sometimes, it can drive you mad. If you’re using an older phone, you probably have to wait minutes for it to load an app. There could be a number of reasons for that. The hardware might just not be powerful enough to run the OS, the storage might be clogged with data. These are signs of your phone showing its age. Processor Running apps side-by-side can be an impossible task. Older phones have outdated processors that are just not cut out to handle the intensive apps we have today. If that’s the case with your device, then you’ve probably had instances where you are left staring at the screen pointlessly for a couple of minutes before being able to do anything. If you’re in a hurry or need some information in a hurry, this can be really frustrating. Getting a new phone means a phone with a cutting-edge, immensely powerful processor that is more than capable of handling these tasks. You get a lag-free experience on your phone. Some phones even let you run two apps at the same time, with a split-screen configuration, making multi-tasking a cakewalk.

Battery runs out of charge before you even know it

Do you have to keep recharging your phone ever so often? Do you constantly find your phone giving you a low battery sign? Having low battery on a phone is acceptable if you’re watching videos all day long or using the camera to click photos. However, if your phone’s battery drops charge significantly with minimal usage, then it’s probably a sign you need to upgrade. A decent phone is one that lasts an entire day, on a single charge with moderate usage. However, having to recharge your phone before the clock strikes noon is just unacceptable and not-to-mention, frustrating. Low battery Battery life has become a major concern in the recent times. Older phones had smaller battery capacities, ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 mAh, which was decent for its time. However, as the requirements have risen, you’ll be glad to know some phones today carry a battery capacity of 4,000 mAH or above. That’s more than enough power to last more than a day.

No more OS updates

Both Android and iOS receive an update every year. On iOS, updates are rolled out immediately to all the phones. However, if your iPhone hasn’t received an update notifications of late, then know that your phone is probably outdated. In a way, it’s a clear sign from Apple saying that it’s time to get a new phone. With Android, the story is a little different. Not all phones run the latest operating system. Most phones are usually running an OS that is a year older or even more. That still isn’t a problem as you get access to most features. However, if the OS on your Android phone is lot older than that, then we recommend getting a new phone. Android 9 Pie is the latest Android build. If very older, and you might want to consider upgrading to a new phone. OS Operating system are like the heart of the smartphone. It’s your way to get your hands on all the latest innovative features. With a new smartphone, you don’t have to worry about updates to new features for at least a few years.

‘Storage is full’, need to delete something

We mentioned it earlier. Everything we do on the smartphone is getting bigger and better. Media quality is better, apps are getting bigger in size and so are the updates on the phone. Older phones weren’t designed to handle this much data. The amount of photos and videos we get from WhatsApp itself can take up half the storage on the phone. You’ll notice this if you keep seeing the ‘Storage is full’ message on the phone often. As result, you will need to free up space by deleting apps or other data. Storage Storage isn’t a problem with new phones, as they are designed to manage data well. Now, you can even save apps on an external SD card and run them from there, something that older phones weren’t able to do. Adding to that, some basic phones today support microSD cards with capacities up to 128GB, which is enough for most people.

YouTube app looks different, some features don’t work. Why?

Apps, like operating systems, also receive updates. These updates are designed to keep them in sync with new operating systems, new processors, better cameras and so on. If your phone doesn’t have all of that to offer, then apps will often be incompatible or might not receive the latest update on your phone. That’s probably why the YouTube app, or some others may not look or run like the same app on your friend’s phone. YouTube With a new phone you don’t have to worry about app compatibility. You can download any app you want. You get access to all the new features in the app and chances are it will run a lot faster than it does on your current phone.

Buffering all the time

Your friends send you a funny video on WhatsApp. You click on it and you see the loading sign. It’s only a 4MB video, but you have to wait for minutes before you can see it. If you don’t have the patience to sit through all the buffering, then it’s probably time to upgrade to a 4G phone. 4G enabled phones are known to offer ten times the speed of their predecessors. That means no more waiting for a file to download. Know more about the 4G benefits here.
