Samsung Smart TVs are popular for their innovative designs and cutting-edge technologies. There are present in all kinds of forms – simpler full HD TVs, 4K TVs as well as curved models. Adding to the full HD line-up, Samsung has introduced a new 49-inch K5300 Full HD Smart TV. It is priced at Rs. 74,900* and is tailored with a smooth, clean design to match your lifestyle. Besides a good design, the Samsung K5300 has some additional features, which will cover through our test of this TV. Let us find out if it’s worth buying the Samsung 49K5300 TV at its asking price.
Design
The Samsung K5300 Smart TV has a simple design. It comes with a black plastic build all over which Samsung calls Ebony Black. The TV comes with a 49-inch screen surrounded by a slim plastic bezel. At the bottom is the grill design meant for speakers, and it takes a lot of space. It also makes the TV appear larger. The Samsung logo is embossed at the front while the power indicator is positioned slightly towards the right. There are additional speaker grill gaps at the bottom. Both the speakers are positioned facing the front and are close to each other.
The design is minimalist and should match your home aesthetics. The back panel of the TV has a louvre or pyramid-like shape. The base looks the same. We were not impressed with this design, which unnecessarily makes the TV look bulky. Also, there is a small box-like structure at the back with a power plug on it. All other connectivity ports are placed on the right.
The Samsung K5300 Smart TV is bundled with a standard remote. It’s a plastic remote with rubberized buttons of different shapes and sizes.
Features
Besides this, the Samsung K5300 supports a ConnectShare feature which lets you copy content from one storage drive to another, without having to use a laptop or PC. Like other Smart TVs, you can connect your smartphone to the TV and stream content. There is a Samsung Smart View app on the Google Play Store which make things easier. You can share photos, videos and movies stored on your phone or tablet.
Performance
Switching between images was slow. Still photos showed good detail although there was a blue tint that had to be corrected using the RGB controls. The TV is configured with a Standard picture and we modified this mode through our tests. If you are someone who like bright saturated colours, you can switch to the Dynamic picture mode. Viewing angles of the Samsung K5300 Smart TV are decent.
Loading of apps was rather slow. We used the in-built web browser running different tabs such as Facebook, RelianceDigital.in, Google News, etc. All these worked fine. We also streamed some music videos from a smartphone, which wasn’t very smooth but manageable. In terms of audio quality, the speakers are loud enough for decent-sized rooms. There wasn’t any distortion while playing loud music and the vocals were clear too. There is no smart remote bundled with this TV, so scrolling and typing is bit tricky. Also, there are no dedicated Netflix, YouTube or Amazon Prime buttons on the remote.
