Oppo’s Reno series of smartphones have created a segment of their own. Though these are mid-range smartphones, their camera setups have given a hard time to even some flagship devices. The Reno 10 Pro was launched a few months back, and now a new standard variant called the Reno 10 5G has been launched. The phone comes at an accessible price but promises nearly the same camera performance as the Pro model. It also brings along a best-in-class CPU, a strong battery and even a premium-grade display. But, does all this make this phone a solid contender?

The Oppo Reno 10 5G offers a similar curved design as its premium sibling. The device weighs about 185 grams and is just 8 mm thick. It has a strong frame to give it structural rigidity. The camera bump at the rear is also minimal and it blends in seamlessly with the phone’s overall design. The device is available in two shades. The Ice Blue variant has a bright shade which shifts under light. The Silvery Grey variant is subtle and can be the choice if you like darker colours. The phone also has an under-display fingerprint reader for unlocking the device and making payments.

The phone has a large 6.7-inch display offering a full HD resolution. It sports an AMOLED panel supporting 1B colours, which means you can experience great colour reproduction and have enjoy a great content viewing experience. The screen also has a 120 Hz refresh rate, so gamers can enjoy games like Battlegrounds India and Call of Duty: Mobile at high frame rates. A higher refresh rate screen also makes the user interface much smoother. Oppo says the screen supports 950 nits of peak brightness, so reading texts and playing games in a brightly lit room should not be an issue. The screen also supports HDR10+, which means you can enjoy HDR content on platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The screen comes with Asahi Glass for protection against scratches and accidental falls.

The USP of the Reno series has always been the camera, and the new Reno 10 5G is no different. The phone comes with a triple camera setup, housing a 64MP f/1.7 aperture primary camera, promising great crisp and clear pictures. Since the camera has a low aperture, it can draw in more light and capture better low-light images. The camera can shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. You can even record full HD slow-motion videos up to 480 fps. The secondary camera is a 32MP unit with an aperture of f/2.0. This is a telephoto lens offering 2X optical zoom and 20X digital zoom. The third 8 MP offers an ultra-wide view of 112 degrees, making it perfect for clicking landscapes and group photos.

The phone also comes with a newer 32 MP camera which Oppo says has 60 per cent more light intake for clearer low-light selfies. This camera can record full HD videos and support features like Dual View mode, so you can record from the front and back camera simultaneously.

The Oppo Reno 10 5G runs the MediaTek Dimensity 7050, an 8-core CPU offering strong performance. This means you can easily run high-end apps and games smoothly. The phone comes with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 256 GB of UFS internal 2.1 storage. You can also have up to 8 GB of virtual RAM with the extended RAM feature. The phone ships with Android 13 and runs on Oppo’s latest ColorOS 13. The OS introduces a bunch of new multi-tasking features, while also making the UI smooth and fluid. Oppo also offers up to 4 years of software updates, making the Reno 10 5G a good future-ready device.

The device comes with all the modern-day connectivity options. It is a dual-SIM 5G smartphone supporting Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. There is also Bluetooth 5.3 on-board, so you can enjoy wireless audio at the best quality. The phone also comes with an IR blaster, so you can connect appliances like a TV, set-top box and even air conditioners straight from your phone. The phone comes with a 5,000 mAh battery despite its thin and light chassis. The phone ships with a 67W SUPERVOOC Flash Charger which gives 0 to 31 per cent charge in just 10 minutes. Oppo says the phone also comes with a Battery Health Engine that claims to increase battery durability up to 4 years. The device also supports reverse charging, so you can wirelessly charge supported phones and even TWS earbuds.

The Oppo Reno 10 5G ranks high among mid-range smartphones. It is a well-designed phone with enough power to handle everyday games and apps with ease. The device stands out because of its cameras, which deliver great image and video recording capabilities. The phone is now available at www.reliancedigital.in and you can even have a hands-on experience with the device by visiting your nearest Reliance Digital store.
