The HP Envy line of laptops is designed for premium users, the kind who travels and has to handle all kinds of jobs on the move. These laptops are built well, they have always looked their part and if you opt for the x360, you are likely to be treated by a gorgeous touchscreen and a convertible setup. Those are reasons enough to be excited about the newest model, the Envy x360 (E13-bd0521TU) but it also happens to be one of the first laptops to ship and support Windows 11. Microsoft’s new operating system is set to launch in early October, and you could be among the first to run it on a laptop designed specifically for it.
The HP Envy x360 is priced on the higher side, but don’t be alarmed, it has a lot of unique features. This is no casual laptop; it is powered by Intel’s 11th generation Core i7 1165G7 quad-core processor. It has a maximum Turbo frequency of 4.7 GHz which should render phenomenal performance no matter what application you run on it. It is a multi-threaded processor so it should render 8 threads, which should make efficient use of the hardware available. It ships with a whopping 16 GB of RAM too, which is more than enough but more importantly, it helps make the laptop future-proof. That is enough memory to run intensive graphics and content creation suites. You could work on large video projects or compile large software if development is your thing. The onboard Intel Iris Xe graphics solution is more powerful than older and commonly seen solutions. It is no gaming chipset, but it will let you play some casual games, and it can boost graphics performance in applications that use graphics card effectively. This can be web browsers, image and video editing software and more.
It even comes with a 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD, which is ample in size for installing all your favourite software, but also to store large assignments and projects. The bigger benefit is of course its speed. SSDs are faster than traditional hard drives, they do not move about, or heat up as much, or make as much noise. The battery benefits are impressive too. In a compact convertible like this, it saves up on a lot of weight too.

We briefly mentioned that this new Envy x360 is a convertible laptop and that means you can use it as a tablet, a regular laptop, or in a tent-like setup as a display to watch your favourite shows and movies on. It has a 13.3-inch display, but the kicker is its display. It runs a tall 3000 x 2000 resolution, and what’s even better, is it’s an OLED display. These are features you rarely see in any laptop, let alone one at this price. The OLED display is unlike any other laptop screen before. OLED displays render dark blacks and the panel turn that region off entirely to achieve this feat. Movies and images, especially those with dark scenes look stunning. It helps with the battery life too.
The resolution is based on a 3:2 aspect ratio instead of the usual 16:9 seen on most laptops. This gives you, the user, more space to use applications with ease. You could stack four windows if you wanted. You also need to scroll less since this is a taller display than most. The edges are minimal too, so the display seems larger too, with little space wasted on bezels. The display is lined with Corning Gorilla Glass NBT which adds a certain level of security and rigidity to the display from scratches. It’s important, since you are going to be carrying this wherever you go.

The laptop works with HP’s rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen. It is the perfect companion for the laptop since you can use it for taking notes on the display like you would a (paper) notebook. It supports multiple levels of pressure and tilt, so you can also use it to sketch and paint, like you would on paper. It can also be a great tool while giving presentations. Despite all its performance and features, it is a light laptop that you can carry everywhere you go. It weighs a meagre 1.33 kg. It is going to grab a lot of attention too, with its Pale Gold colour, its bevelled edges that run along its base, and that large, taller screen design.
There are a range of other features that make this laptop a unique one. Take for example, its Wi-Fi 6 AX 201 which has a theoretical transfer speed of about 2.4 Gbps, higher than traditional technologies. Privacy is another area of concern these days, and HP takes care of it. A fingerprint scanner is standard on premium laptops. The Envy x360 also comes with a shutter that blocks out the 720p wide-angle web camera when you aren’t using it. There is also a microphone mute button. There is a dual array microphone setup that should help with picking up audio when you are taking video calls, sitting at a distance. Even the speakers are impressive, designed and branded by the audio experts over at B&O (Bang & Olufsen).

Windows 11, Microsoft’s next major operating system release is lined up along with the availability of this laptop. Windows 11 brings better multi-tasking, stacking of windows and it makes the gaming experience better. It all comes together with a product like this HP Envy x360. Other connectivity options exist too, such as the Thunderbolt 4 port with the USB 4 Type-C connector that can be used for transferring data at dream-like 40Gbps speeds. That is a lot of performance, and it could be used for storage and a range of high-performance peripherals as well.

The HP Envy x360 (E13-bd0521TU) is among the most premium laptops in the market today, but it is also made perfectly to run Windows 11.
