Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II – Experience personalised noise cancellation

Bose’s QuietComfort earbuds proved that noise cancellation on Truly Wireless Earphones can be just as effective as overhead headphones. These quickly became the audiophile’s preferred choice due to their compactness, premium sound and battery life which the competition has struggled to match. Bose has now launched the QuietComfort Earbuds II which promise significantly improved noise cancellation without compromising on sound quality. They also claim to overcome the older model’s design flaws, bringing in more durability and comfort than ever. But, when the competition is offering their models at discounted prices, are these new earbuds worth their price?

A lot has changed to make QuietComfort II supreme in the noise-cancelling race. They now come with four microphones in each earbud, which Bose says are better at targeting high and mid-range frequencies. These are also one of the first TWS earbuds promising custom noise-cancelling performance. Bose calls it CustomTune technology which sends out an audio signal to learn your canal’s unique shape. The signal bounces back and is picked up by the microphones offering a personalized noise-cancellation experience. Bose says this feature also helps improve sound performance.

The earbuds’ supreme audio quality also comes from its 9.3 mm drivers. Bose says these drivers are perfectly balanced and designed to deliver a rich audio experience. You can also tweak the music to your listening preferences using the EQ in the Bose Music app, a feature that was missing in the older model. These earbuds come with the latest Bluetooth 5.3 standard, so you can have a strong signal within 9.1 meters of your paired device. They support SBC and AAC codecs for lossless music listening. These earbuds also keep track of 6 paired devices, so you can switch between them easily.

The Bose QuietComfort II earbuds bring a refreshed design, making them nearly 30 per cent smaller than before. They now weigh only 7 grams and don’t protrude out from the ears like the older ones. They look good and are also comfortable to wear through long gaming and music-listening sessions. Bose has also ditched the one-piece StayEar wing tips for a two-piece system called the Stability Bands. Bose says these bands use a softer material which improve comfort while maintaining a snug seal. You can easily wear them during a run or workout without worrying about them falling out.

Bose has also redesigned the carry case making it more pocketable. The earbuds come with IPX4 water-resistant rating. The interior of the case is also resistant to water and sweat that remains on the earbuds, however, it is recommended not to expose its exterior to water. The QuietComfort II are available in two colours – a Triple Black colour which is darker and should be easier to maintain. If you prefer lighter colours, the Soapstone model is the more ideal option.

Despite the small size, the new QC II earbuds come with a bunch of touch controls. A single tap play/pauses the music and can be used to pick a call. You can double-tap either earbud to skip the track or end a call. A triple tap switches to the previous track. Touch and hold allow you to switch between ANC modes, so you talk and hear people without taking out the earbuds. You can also swipe up or down to control the volume.

While the QuietComfort II earbuds sound premium, Bose also promises premium voice-calling performance. Since there are more microphones built into the device, the QC Earbuds II can pick up your voice more accurately during calls, even in windy environments. Bose also uses a special beamforming algorithm which further reduces the background noise, so you can have crystal-clear voice calls.

The Bose Music app is also noteworthy. You can use it to customise touch control to preferences, even add or remove noise-cancellation presets. The app is also essential to update the earbuds’ firmware.

The Bose QuietComfort II also promises a solid battery performance. Despite its smaller size, it has a bigger battery which can last up to 6 hours. The charging case can offer up to three additional charges, and Bose says a 20-minute charge offers up to 2 hours of battery life.

The Bose QuietComfort II are truly next-generation TWS earbuds. The earbuds bring class-leading noise cancellation along with premium audio quality. The new design also brings in more comfort than before and Bose’s long-lasting software support surely makes these earbuds better than their rivals. The earbuds are priced at Rs. 25,900* and are now available at www.reliancedigital.in. You can also experience the earbuds’ sound quality by visiting your nearest Reliance Digital stores.
