Bose is known for all kinds of premium audio solutions, but would you believe it if we told you, they made a pair of sunglasses? That’s right, one of Bose’s latest products, the Frames Alto are sunglasses you can wear but there is more to them than meets the eye. The Bose Frames Alto Wireless are a sound solution, that you can wear on your head as you go about your day. If you are the kind of person who jogs, cycles, or runs or goes on long hikes, you might find that these unique pair of sunglasses to suit your needs. They serve two purposes.
The first thing that comes to mind with wearables is the look. The Bose Frames Alto are classy, and they don’t look like a prototype of any kind. The design is quite bold, quite conventional, and comfortable. There is some bulk along the sides of the frame, presumably for the smart electronics and batteries to be housed in. They are very cleverly hidden away so you won’t notice them. The tips on the sides fit in snugly around your ears so they are comfortable as well. The Bose Frames Alto barely weigh anything, at 45g. You can go for hours without noticing them on your ears.

As you might have guessed, these are an open-ear audio solution which means there are no earplugs that go into your ears, instead, the speakers are built into the side-frames pointing speakers at your ears. You will not have to feel the fatigue of having your ears clogged up for hours on end while you go about your activities. You can also use the Bose Frames Alto also at your workplace or at home. The sunglasses are effective outdoors, but they are also quite soothing if worn indoors in front of your laptop or PC.
The Bose Frames Alto connect to your phone or other devices over Bluetooth, and they can be controlled using the button on the frame itself. Bose claims a Bluetooth range of up to 9 metres, which is quite impressive. The Bose Frames Alto are also said to be quite loud, and you should rarely feel the need to crank the volume right up to 100 per cent. Having an open-ear design also means that the sound is quite different. It feels quite roomy, and it is perfect, whether you are listening to music, or podcasts. After all, we are talking about Bose here, a brand known for its pristine audio quality across speakers, earphones, and headphones.
The Bose Frames Alto aren’t just for listening to music, they have a built-in microphone so they can also be used for making and receiving calls, much like any other pair of earphones. There is even support for smart voice assistants such as Apple’s Siri or Google Assistant. All the controls are possible using the single button on the frame.
Bose also has the Connect app that lets you control the frames. It makes configuring and setting up the device easy, but it also helps the Frames Alto download software updates using it. The app is available for both, Android, and iOS devices.
Bose also sells separate lenses if you want to go in for a distinctly different look. The Bose Frames Alto also come in an equally premium carry case, so you can dump them into a bag and carry them wherever you go. The Bose Frames Alto can be charged using the bundled charging cable. There is a connector on one of the sides of the frame, and the process is entirely intuitive.
