Explore the latest-gen MacBook Air series laptops at Reliance Digital
The Apple MacBook series were easy to grasp, a decade ago. The choices were simple. The MacBook Pro was the powerful machine and the MacBook Air became the affordable option for everyday use. Since the revival of the MacBook Air in 2018, the Air has gotten noticeably better. Carved out of a single aluminum block, the chassis, coupled with some powerful hardware and an incredible display, it has unquestionably become a very desirable laptop.
Every year brings new product launches from Apple, and this year was no different. There were many expectations, but the new MacBook Air was at the top on that list. Apple announced the new MacBook Air, and it is quite impressive now that it sports the new Apple M2 processor. Anyone looking to upgrade from an older laptop or even an older MacBook now has a lot to look forward. Here is all you need to know about them.
Apple MacBook Air 2020
The M1 is Apple’s 8-core CPU that has four high-efficiency cores along with four high-performance cores. Apple claims the new CPU make the new devices 2.8 times faster than the older Intel-based MacBook Air. The M1 chipset also comes with an 8-core GPU that promises 5 times more graphics performance than the last year’s Intel Iris Pro integrated graphics. Apple says the laptop can now smoothly handle heavy 3D modeling projects.
The new MacBook Air is going to ship with Apple’s latest MacOS Big Sur. The new OS delivers a spacious design aimed at making navigating easier and giving more controls to users. The update brings an all-new Control Center that gives quick access to Do Not Disturb feature, keyboard brightness, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings, right from the menu bar. Apple claims the new M1 chipset allows the OS to be significantly quicker, delivering a smoother user experience.
The Air retains its slim and lightweight wedge-shaped design while the Pro model has a more uniform slab-looking design. It house the same 13.3-inch Retina display with an IPS panel. The display has premium features such as True Tone, and P3 Wide Color that help it to render very accurate colours. Retina Display’s vivid colours and 100 per cent sRGB support make the MacBook Air ideal choice for colour accurate work. Prices for the new MacBook Air starts from Rs. 92,900*.
Apple MacBook Air 2022
Starting with the basics, the new MacBook Air 2022 runs a 13.6-inch display, slightly larger than the outgoing model. The resolution is 2560 x 1664px, which makes it a taller display than most laptops. It makes viewing content fun, but more importantly, gives ample workspace to run multiple applications while reducing the amount of scrolling one needs to do on narrower displays. The resolution is also high, so the display is very dense, making it perfect for reading fine text on it, but while also making photos, and movies appear crisp and detailed. As is the case with most Apple displays, the colour rendition is nearly flawless, with support for a billion colours, and Wide Color (P3) support. The screen renders 500 nits of brightness and runs on True Tone technology too.
There are two MacBook Air models to choose from, running slightly different configurations. Both models, run the 8-core processor, with 4 efficiency cores, but the higher-end model runs a 10-core GPU instead of the regular 8 cores found on the more affordable model. They're both incredibly powerful but the higher-end model should have an edge in graphics performance, whether you're gaming or creating graphical and 3D content.
The entire laptop weighs about 1.24 kg, which is a lot lighter than most. It's incredibly thin as well, measuring about 1.13 cm. Nothing about the MacBook Air is cheap; it feels premium owing to its aluminium construction that keeps it sturdy, clean and looks unlike any other laptop. Apple claims the shell is made of recycled aluminium, so it's even friendly to the environment. Even the colours options are stunning; there are four to choose from - Midnight, Starlight, Space Grey and Silver. Prices for the new MacBook Air starts from Rs. 1,10,308* and it is now available at Reliance Digital.
