Support (Sony MHC-V13D High Power Audio System with Bl...)

During a Bluetooth connection, there is no sound or low sound from my audio system

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

Check the following to troubleshoot this issue:

  • Make sure that the FUNCTION is set to BLUETOOTH.
  • Check if the BLUETOOTH indicator of the audio system is lit.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth setting of the source device, and then turn it on again to re-establish the Bluetooth connection.
  • Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source device.
  • If your source device is a computer, restart the music software.
  • If you are using Music Center (SongPal) on your mobile device, make sure to update it to the latest version.
  • Note: The Music Center (SongPal) update is necessary even if you are not using the app. If the Music Center (SongPal) cannot be updated, uninstall the app and then make the Bluetooth connection. If the issue is not resolved after checking all the items above, delete the device information of the connected device, and then and perform pairing again.

PUSH POWER / PROTECT / PROTECTOR is flashing in the display of the home audio device.

NOTE: If model-specific information is needed to complete any of these steps, refer to the instruction manual with the product.

If the words PROTECT / PROTECTOR and PUSH POWER appear in alternating sequence on the display of your home audio device, or if the words PROTECT or PROTECTOR appear, there may be an external speaker issue or connection issue that is triggering the protection circuit. Try following these steps to resolve this issue:

NOTE: Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the A/V receiver status after completing each step.

    1. If there has been an electrical surge or power outage, then the internal surge protection inside the home audio device may have been triggered to protect the device from the surge. This is normal. To reset the internal surge protection circuit unplug the AC power cord from the wall for at least 30 minutes.

    2. Ensure the top of the home audio device has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating. Running the home audio device in a poorly ventilated cabinet can trigger the protection circuit.

    3. Reduce the volume level. If the impedance of any of the speakers is below the rated impedance range indicated on the rear of the home audio device next to the speaker connections, the home audio device may enter the PROTECT mode. Raising the volume with a low impedance speaker will trigger the protection circuit.

    NOTES:

  • Replace low impedance (outside of specifications) speakers with the correct impedance to prevent this from occurring.
  • If you continue to use the low impedance (outside of specifications) speakers and you ran the Auto Calibration, check your SPEAKER SETUP and individual speaker LEVEL to reduce any speaker LEVEL with a positive gain to 0.0dB or less.
  • 4. To isolate the problem, do the following:

  • Turn off the home audio device, and remove all speaker wires from the back. Then turn the device back on and check if the issue is resolved. If it is still having the same issue, turn off the device again and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before turning it on again.
  • Inspect the speaker cords. If a cord is frayed or in contact with another terminal, an error will occur. Fix the connection to prevent a short circuit.
  • Make sure the speaker impedance is within the recommended range. If the impedance is not correct, sound will not come out properly and the speaker may be damaged. If speakers that are within the recommended impedance range, check the connections. If the speakers being used is within the suitable range and is still not working, there may be a malfunction or some other flaw within the speakers. Test by using a different set of speakers if available.
  • The audio system cannot connect via Bluetooth even after it was paired before

If this issue occurs, delete the Bluetooth pairing information from the connected device, and perform a pairing again. The following shows the procedures when you connect an iPhone, Android smartphone or Walkman:

    For iPhone

    Note:

For details about the iPhone settings, refer to the product manual
  • Turn off the system (MHC-xx).
  • On the iPhone screen, delete the pairing information of the system. For detailed procedure, refer to the How to delete the Bluetooth information from a device article.
  • Note: If the system does not appear on the connected device, skip this step.

  • Press the POWER button to turn on the system.
  • Note: If SONY DEMO appears on the display, the system is in demo mode. Press the DISPLAY button repeatedly until the demonstration display disappears, and then press the POWER button again to turn the system on.

  • Press the FUNCTION repeatedly until BLUETOOTH appears on the display.
  • Hold down BLUETOOTH/PAIRING on the system for more than 3 seconds until PAIRING flashes on the display.
  • On the iPhone, turn off the BLUETOOTH feature, and turn it on again.
  • Tap the system model name which appears in the OTHER DEVICES menu.
  • Notes:
If a passkey is required, enter 0000.

  • You can confirm that the system has successfully paired with iPhone when the system model name is listed in the MY DEVICES menu, showing the Connected status.
  • For Android smartphone or Walkman

Note: For details about the Android smartphone or Walkman settings, refer to the product manual

  • Turn off the system (MHC-xx).

    Before you start
The process to reset the Home Audio System to the factory settings varies depending on your model. Select the appropriate steps below based on the model number of your system. If your model is not listed, check the manual on the support web page.
    Note:
The resetting procedure is in the Troubleshooting section of the Help Guide or Operating Instructions.
    IMPORTANT:
    <li>
Use the controls on the system to perform this operation.
    </li><li>
All user-configured settings will be reset to the factory default settings.
    </li>
    NOTE:
Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the surround sound for the rear speakers after completing each step.1. Verify that the rear surround speakers are properly connected to the Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.
IMPORTANT: If applicable to your model, verify that the A/B speaker selector is set to the appropriate position. If the speakers are connected to the A speaker connection on the rear of the A/V receiver, then the A/B speaker selector must be set to the A position.

    NOTE:
Consult the operating instructions for model-specific steps to reset your unit back to factory settings.9. After resetting the unit, if applicable to your model, follow the steps for Calibrating the appropriate settings automatically.
