The recent popular smartphone from Xiaomi was called the Mi 11X Pro. As is the trend with flagship devices late, there is now an affordable of that smartphone, called the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. The difference in prices is massive. The basic Mi 11 Lite configuration starts at Rs. 22,499* while the higher model costs about Rs. 24,499*. The Mi 11 Lite has a lot in common with the Mi 11X Pro but there are downgrades to bring the price down. Let us take a closer look at what those changes might be, and whether they should affect you.
The biggest difference between the devices is the processor. The Mi 11 Lite uses a modest Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G processor. It’s no slouch. It an eight-core processor, based off an 8 nm fabrication process. Two of the cores are clocked at 2.3 GHz while the other six operate at about 1.8 GHz. The processor is accompanied by an Adreno 600 graphics solution, which is handy when you run graphics intensive apps and games of course. There are three variants to choose from. The basic model comes with 6 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of storage, and another with 128 GB of storage. The higher-spec variant has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The performance from the devices should be enough regardless of what you use the device for – work, play or just casual entertainment.
The other differences between the more expensive Mi 11X Pro can be seen in the screen. The Mi 11 Lite runs an AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz which is much better than what we are used to, with phones running 60Hz screen. It is a tad lower than the premium Mi 11X Pro, which ships with a 120Hz screen. Many of us will not be able to notice the differences between the two refresh rates unless pointed out clearly. The screen is quite large too, at 6.55 inches diagonally and it runs a resolution of 1080 x 2400, which is the same as the more premium Mi 11X Pro. HDR10 is also supported, and it’s a good thing if you like watching a lot of premium streaming services like Netflix. The Mi 11 Lite supports 10-bit colour depth along with DCI-P3 colour gamut compliance. This ensures you get a vibrant but an equally colour-accurate display. This is good when you want to edit photos on your device. You will not have to worry about anomalies in the colours. The phone also comes with two speakers that helps match up the audio performance with the quality display.
The phone itself looks quite impressive with its slim 1.8 mm bezel. It’s slim and the display almost entirely covers the front of the phone. Even the back shares some resemblance with its more premium variant. The camera block is squarish compared to the elongated one on the Mi 11X Pro. There are three colours to choose from – Boba Black, Peach Pink, and Bubblegum Blue. All of these are quite tasteful and unique, not even slightly crude. There are other fine touches that makes the Mi 11 Lite different from other phones. The dazzling halo ring design around the camera bump makes the device stand out and feel refined. The backs of the phones are also made to reduce fingerprints, although this treatment is only on the Bubblegum Blue and Peach Pink models.

Even the sides are quite slim, measuring 6.81 mm in thickness. There is a lot that fits into the side, including the buttons, the Type-C USB port but more importantly the power button that houses the fingerprint sensor. The sides of the phone are curved, so it looks classy, but also comfortable to hold.
One of the things spoken most about of premium smartphones is the camera setup. The Mi 11 Lite has three cameras. The first is a 64 MP primary camera that clicks all the photos in glorious detail even under low light. However, the camera you want to use when you are clicking wide landscapes or group photos is the 8 MP ultrawide. It has a field of view of 119 degrees, which should encapsulate everything. The last camera is a 2X telephoto lens which should be able to click distant objects with some ease. The camera block also has a flash built into it that can be used to click photos in low light. The front camera on the other hand, uses a 16MP sensor that can be used for clicking selfies but also for video calls. The rear camera can be used to shoot 4K videos or slow-motion videos at 1080p and 720p at 120fps.There are also a range of AI powered effects at your disposable while using these cameras.
A powerful device also requires a large battery that can last a day. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite comes with a 4250 mAh battery which has a claimed battery life of 16 hours if you were to watch movies nonstop. It even comes with a 33W fast charger bundled in the box that can get the device back to full charge in no time at all.

There are other smart bits of technology built into the Mi 11 Lite that take it to the next level. It ships with a liquid cooling technology that helps with keeping things under control when you are pushing the device to the limits. NFC, a feature that’s present here is often seen missing on other phones. it is handy, since it can be used for quickly pairing with compatible NFC speakers or even for making digital payments transferring data between devices. WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 are some of the other standards you get as well.
There is a lot to like with the new Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. It’s stylish, it performs well, it has all the bells and whistles, and it does not cost a lot.
