High-end smartwatch options for Android users are limited. They are usually left with entry to mid-range offerings with limited features and sometimes, even compatibility issues. That’s where brands like Samsung outshine the rest, by offering seamless integration with Android devices. With smartness, their devices also have a reputation for delivering a premium design. This year alongside the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4, Samsung has also refreshed its Galaxy Watch range. There are two new models – The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro, each offering a unique character. Here is all you need to know about them.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 looks like the last-gen Watch4 but now it boasts of a slimmer design. It is subtle and blends in more seamlessly with a formal attire. Samsung is offering the watch in two sizes. The base variant has a 40 mm dial, more suitable option for smaller hands. The 44 mm variant is large and better for bigger hands. Both models use an aluminium chassis which Samsung says makes them 1.6 times stronger than last-generation models. The 40 mm option comes in Silver, Graphite and Pink Gold colour options, while the 44 mm model comes in Sapphire, Silver and Graphite colours.

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro comes with a 45 mm dial. Despite being larger than the standard Watch5, it only weighs 46 grams, so you barely feel its weight. It is constructed using a titanium chassis and sapphire glass for extreme durability. Samsung claims the watch is twice as sturdier than the Watch4, so it should easily survive extreme sports activities. It comes with a 20 mm d-buckle band which is easy to replace. Both the standard Watch5 and Watch5 Pro offer IP68 water and dust resistance. It even meets MIL-STD-810H standards.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro has circular AMOLED touchscreens. This year Samsung has also added the Always-On feature allowing users to check time and notifications without raising their wrists. The 40 mm variant comes has a 1.19-inch display with a 396 x 396 resolution. The 44 mm and 45 mm Pro model has a slightly bigger 1.35-inch screen with a 450 x 450px resolution. The displays are sharp and clear, so reading notifications and even longer texts should be effortless.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 series are undoubtedly among the most powerful smartwatches for Android users. They run on Samsung’s Exynos W920 Dual-Core 1.18 GHz chipset, a CPU specially designed for smartwatches. Samsung says the CPU smoothly handles Google’s WearOS, so you should never experience stuttering when using features and going through menus. All models come with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. All models also offer Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and NFC for tap payments. The watch also has an in-built GPS for accurately recording your outdoor runs. Variants of these watches also come with LTE support.

Samsung has also made huge improvements on the battery front. The standard Galaxy Watch5 40 mm has a 284 mAh battery on board, while the 44mm model houses a slightly larger 410 mAh battery. The Pro model has a 590 mAh battery, a significant improvement over the standard model. The battery capacity is also larger than its closest rivals, so the device should last days without a charge.

The watch also has all the sensors you would expect from premium smartwatches. They are equipped with an optical heart rate, electrical heart, skin temperature, and even a continuous SpO2 sensor. There is also a BioActive sensor which measures the heart rate, and bioelectrical impedance analysis to measure body composition. This sensor also powers feature like continuous heart rate monitoring, ECG, and sleep monitoring with REM stages.

The watches support more than 90 workouts. However, the Pro model supports an additional TrackBack feature that automatically records points on the map so you can easily return to the starting point during your hiking trips. These watches also let you make and receive calls from your wrist. You can also make payments from your wrist with the Google Pay app. Since the WearOS support the Google Play store, you can also install apps like Google Maps, YouTube Music and Spotify on the watch.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro are the smartest and most powerful watches for Android users. Their flagship and rugged design offered with a large AMOLED display easily make them better most other smartwatches. These watches are full of health-tracking features, and their best-in-class battery can give a hard time to their rivals. These watches are now available at www.reliancedigital.in.
