Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE – It’s a fond, Fan Edition now!

Samsung has a history of launching a great many smartphones and tablets with extraordinary hardware, but those flagship devices demand an equally extraordinary price. Samsung new formula for value-for-money products, is what they call the Fan Edition. The Samsung Galaxy S20 was one of those first Fan Edition devices that made the deal sweeter for users. Samsung is now planning on making tablets just as exciting with their new Galaxy Tab S7 FE. There are bound to be several tweaks to the original Tab S7 to achieve the low price. Let us look at what changes in the winning formula that make the Tab S7 among the best tablets in the world.

We begin with the display. The Tab S7 FE comes with a 12.4-inch screen that runs a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels. This is larger than the standard Tab S7 display, which had an 11-inch display. The FE screen is the same size as the Tab S7+. The screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio display; it has a few benefits. You get more vertical workspace even when you use it horizontally. You need to scroll less; you get more workspace in the same screen size. This is a trend that is slowly picking up in the laptop space.
Samsung may have scaled down its performance for the Galaxy Tab S7 FE but it is still a very capable device. You get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset onboard which is an 8-core unit. The Snapdragon 750G is a coupling of two quad-core processors, clocked each at 2.2GHz and 1.8 GHz. This is still a very robust processor that can run everything from everyday applications to high-end games, even multitask between all kinds of applications, graphics-intensive or not. You can even run three applications on the screen at any given time.

Samsung is selling a 4 GB RAM variant with 64 GB of onboard storage and another model with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. That is ample space for most applications, but you will want to, at some point, expand the storage. The Tab S7 FE has a microSD card slot with support for memory cards up to 1 TB in size. That makes it just as capable, as far as installing the kind of software, and content, as any other laptop or PC around.
Samsung has made sure they complement the Tab S7 FE‘s display with some impressive audio as well. There are Dolby Atmos dual speakers on it, powered by the well-known AKG technology. This sort of performance is great for gaming, for watching movies, listening to music or podcasts. It gets you the kind of punch you rarely hear in most other tablets in its range.
Here in India, it’s still not a cultural thing to use tablets for shooting photographs. However, the front-facing camera is an important aspect especially in this point in time when remote working and remote education is a real thing. We are all used to terrible cameras and microphones on our devices. Fortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 FE has three microphones built into the display, with the camera positioned bang in the center. This is great if you use the tablet horizontally. You will not find yourself in any odd angles when you are in calls with people at work or if you are attending an online class. The front camera uses a 5MP sensor, while the rear one has an 8MP sensor.
Few companies make stylus pens as well as Samsung. Unlike other tablets, where you are required to purchase it separately, Samsung bundles it with the Tab S7 FE. It’s a great addition to an already good product. It’s a great companion because you can use it to jot down notes, to make fine artwork or as a tool while presenting to an audience. What’s even better is that it snaps onto the side which makes it easy to carry around, but it also does not require to be charged separately. Samsung has a bunch of nifty apps and technology that help you use the S Pen for translating handwritten words into digital text and it does all of this in a jiffy. So, you could use this to make mind maps or to plan out an itinerary or a presentation flow or just doodle around in your free time.

No tablet is complete without a good battery. The last thing you want to be doing is recharging your tablet every few hours. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE comes with a 10,900 mAh battery and it supports 45 watts Super Fast Charging. You will need to purchase the adapter separately though for the Supper Fast Charging feature though. Samsung bundles a 15W charger which is quite effective but if you are someone who uses their tablet quite often, you will want to buy the additional charger at some point in time.
The Tab S7 FE has a few other tricks up its sleeve. It has the all-popular DeX mode which lets you use the tablet like a regular computer or laptop. It’s more fun if you use the third-party keyboard cover, as it doubles as a cover but also has a keyboard for your Galaxy Tab S7 FE. It can also be synced up with a phone, and you can seamlessly transfer text and communicate with the other device as an extension of your device. Samsung claims that if you’re using earphones like the Galaxy Buds, they can automatically switch over from your tablet to your phone when you get a call and switch back again when the call is complete.

All the other regular standards are built into the device. You get a modern USB 3.2 connector which is magnetic, so it latches on effortlessly. The Tab S7 FE also comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac (fondly called Wi-Fi 5) and Bluetooth 5.0.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE comes in a set of interesting subtle colours, called Mystic Black, Mystic Silver, Mystic Green and Mystic Pink. This means the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE isn’t all about its performance and features, it’s also an impressive-looking tablet that you can flaunt.
