Samsung’s M series phones have always been about their monstrous screen and battery. They can be heavy and uncomfortable in the hands but this story changes with the new Samsung M52 5G. It holds on to its signature features and yet manages a slim and lightweight form factor. The list of surprises doesn’t end here. It is also the first M-series to ship with a high 120Hz refresh rate screen and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G CPU, the strongest mid-range processor out there.

The M52 has a large 6.7-inch display. Samsung has trimmed down the bezels to a point where it’s barely visible. This makes the phone comfortable to hold, for smaller hands while also enhancing its looks. The display uses Samsung’s Super AMOLED tech, unlike other M-series phones that use CD panels. An AMOLED panel shows vivid colours, deep blacks and clear screen visibility in bright daylight. The screen’s 120Hz refresh rate further enhances its experience. It makes the overall UI smooth and tear-free.

The Samsung Galaxy M52 makes no performance compromises like its predecessor. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G CPU for smooth performance across all apps and games. This CPU also enables the phone to be 5G and Wi-Fi 6 capable. You can choose the phone in two configurations. The base model has 6GB of RAM, while the higher-end one comes with 8GB of RAM. The phone supports Samsung’s RAM Plus feature that add up to 4GB of virtual RAM. This ensures a seamless multitasking experience, no matter how many tabs you have open on your browser or how many apps the phone runs at a time.

The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is also an excellent device to game on. It uses the Adreno 642L GPU to run the most demanding games such as Battlegrounds India, Call of Duty: Mobile, Fortnite and Minecraft at the highest graphics settings. The 120Hz refresh-rate screen should enhance the gaming experience further. The M52 has 128GB of internal storage. It’s a UFS 2.1 storage, so apps and games should load in no time. The integrated microSD card slot allows storage expansion up to 512GB. Having this kind of storage gives freedom to store lots of photos, movies, and music without any worries.

The Galaxy M52 is now 21 per cent slimmer than its predecessor yet managing to fit a 5,000 mAh battery. It weighs just 173 grams, so it is as light as Galaxy flagship phones. The display is protected by  Gorilla Glass 5, from scratches and accidental falls. The rear of the phone is made of polycarbonate but has a glass-like look for a premium appeal. The phone comes in two colours – Blazing Black and Icy Blue.

The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G won’t disappoint photography enthusiasts. The device has a triple-camera setup, with its 64MP primary camera offering an f/1.8 aperture. Samsung says the camera clicks great pictures with plenty of details, good dynamic range and accurate colours. There is also a dedicated Night Mode for capturing noise-free, low-light photos. This camera also supports the Portrait Mode for creative bokeh effects.

The secondary f/2.2 ultra-wide camera offers a 123-degrees field-of-view. You can also use this camera to capture ultra-wide nightscapes. The 12MP macro camera lets you take close-up pictures like water droplets on a leaf or a bug on a flower. The phone can even shoot 4K videos at 30fps. For selfies, it comes with a 32MP wide-angle camera that can also shoot full HD videos.

The Galaxy M52 5G runs on Samsung One UI 3.1 based on Android 11. It brings simplified and decluttered menus along with tons of customisation options. There is also a new effect for blurring the background during video calls. It works with apps such as Zoom, Google Duo and Microsoft Teams. You can also add a custom background image if background-blurring isn’t your thing. It helps with privacy.

The phone supports the Knox feature seen on flagship Samsung Galaxy devices. It protects and encrypts confidential files, credit card transactions, and passwords by saving them in an inbuilt chip. This data is only accessible using a password or biometric unlocking. Samsung has also promised two years of major Android updates along with four years of security patches.

The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G is the most appealing mid-range smartphone out there. Its performance and design are more polished than its predecessor. The phone’s other star features are its large AMOLED screen, strong battery life and a solid set of cameras that make it better than its rivals. It is priced at Rs. 25,999*, and it will be soon available on www.reliancedigital.in, and your nearest Reliance Digital store.
