Smartwatches are slowly becoming an essential smartphone accessory. They are a motivation to become fit, and a way to check on notifications and receive calls. There are lots of affordable smartwatches available these days, but most miss out on features. Many budget-conscious buyers also settle for small-screen smart bands, but it looks like the days of compromising are finally over. Realme has reputation for building great smartphones. They have now introduced the Realme Watch, their first ever smartwatch, ideal for those wanting to replace their smart bands.

The Realme Watch resembles most premium smartwatches. It is square-shaped with rounded edges, and its plastic chassis offers durability. It is an IP68-certified watch so you can use it while showering or swimming. The watch weighs just 81 grams so you can wear it all day. It comes with detachable silicon straps which Realme says use a soft and skin-friendly material that is comfortable. The straps are offered in Black, Blue, Red and Green colours. The Black strap comes bundled with the watch, while other straps need to be purchased separately.

The Realme Watch has a 1.4-inch colour touchscreen display with a 320 x 320 resolution. Realme says the display’s colour production is far better than its rivals, and the touchscreen provides a smooth and fluid response. The display produces 380 nits of peak brightness, promising good outdoor visibility. The watch’s screen comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, making the device resistant to scratches. Realme says you can wear the watch while playing outdoor games and during gym workouts.

The Realme Watch runs on a proprietary OS and its UI is clean. Swiping down on the home screen gives access to notifications while swiping to the right gives you access to the watch’s settings. You can also get weather information, daily heart rate, step counts and burned calories by swiping to the left. There are 12 different watch faces to choose from, and you can have six available on the watch at a time. Realme says they are soon going to roll out more than a 100 watch faces through software updates.

The Realme Watch relies on the Realme Link app for operation. The app was only available for Android, but is now available for iOS devices as well. The app lets you take control over most of the watch settings. You can set alarms, enable or disable the ‘Lift Wrist to Wake Screen’ feature and even control the watch’s screen brightness. The app provides in-depth information on workouts, and you can even use it to toggle notifications of third-party apps. The watch displays notifications Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Gmail, Twitter and many more.

The Realme Watch comes with lots of fitness-oriented features. It uses an optical sensor for real-time heart rate monitoring. Regular heart rate monitoring during workouts can ensure you train hard enough but without putting yourself in danger. There is also an option to continuously monitor heart rate that provides readings throughout the day from intervals ranging from 5 minutes up to 30 minutes.

The Realme Watch also offers sleep tracking, a feature that is typically seen on premium smartwatches. The watch breakdowns the sleep tracking data into Deep, Light and REM sleep, helping user analyse and optimise their habits. You can access the sleep information in the Realme Link app and even set sleep reminders. The Realme Watch comes with a SpO2 sensor to measure the oxygen level in your blood. It can be a great way to assess your current health and fitness states, and Realme says the watch’s SpO2 readings are as accurate as a pulse oximeter.

The Realme Watch has a Sports Mode that can collect data during different exercises such as outdoor cycling, strength training, elliptical yoga, table tennis, badminton and cricket. There is also an Outdoor Run feature that uses the watch’s in-built accelerometer and the paired smartphone’s GPS to accurately record your average running speed and location. The Realme Watch also has a Drink Water reminder and an Idle reminder that helps you to stay hydrated and active during workouts.

A future update will let you control Realme-branded IoT devices, straight from the watch. The Realme Watch uses Bluetooth 5.0 LE for strong wireless connectivity. The watch has a 160mAh battery which provides a claimed seven days of battery life with continuous heart rate monitoring feature turned on, and nine days without it.

The Realme Watch is a premium-looking smartwatch with lots of fitness-oriented features. Priced at Rs. 3,999*, it offers great value for your money. The Realme Watch is available at www.reliancedigital.in and also at your nearest Reliance Digital store.
