Entry-level devices come in all shapes and sizes these days. Some have large screens, others have multiple cameras, some even manage premium-looking designs. These days they also pack decent hardware capable of handling everyday social media apps, web browsing and content streaming. However, since most models use older-generation hardware, they lose their breath after a few software updates. Users often have to live with sluggish performance as time goes by.

Realme seems to have understood this issue. Their newly launched Realme Narzo 50A comes with one of the latest-gen CPUs, which makes it a future-proof device. But, is that enough to make it a winner among entry-level devices? Let’s find out.

Realme’s Narzo line-up has distinguished itself among the entry-range device in recent years. The new Narzo 50A seems to be no different as it runs on the new-generation MediaTek Helio G85 CPU. This 8-core CPU has powered multiple mid-range devices. It’s a powerful CPU that can easily handle everyday tasks without any stuttering. The Helio G85 also makes the Narzo 50A a good budget gaming device as you can smoothly run games like Call of Duty: Mobile, Asphalt 9: Airborne and Minecraft.

The device comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and offers 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. A microSD card is also present on the device supporting storage expansion up to 256 GB. The Narzo 50A is a dual-SIM LTE device. It comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac for wireless connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0 with LR and A2DP for a seamless wireless audio experience.

The Realme Narzo runs Android 11 and uses Realme UI 2.0 which has been streamlined for budget devices. The new UI uses 45 per cent less system resources and improves performance by 32 per cent. Realme says the phone will now support software updates for a longer period, so users can have a secure and fluid smartphone usage experience. The Realme UI 2.0 also brings incredible customization options so you get the flexibility to combine and create the UI as you like. A new Floating & Mini Window feature has also been introduced which lets you have two apps side-by-side. There is also a Realme Share feature, so users can quickly share photos and files with other Realme smartphone users.

Forgetting to charge the devices is not an issue for the Narzo 50A. It comes with a massive 6,000 mAh battery, one of the highest in the class. Realme says this device can go without a charge for days under heavy usage. This means you can watch videos, scroll through social media, play games and attend calls without worrying about charging the device. Realme says that a 5 per cent charge can let you make about 144 minutes of calls. The device also ships with an 18 W fast charger, so charging waits are minimal.

The Realme Narzo 50A comes with a large 6.5-inch screen. It boasts of an IPS panel with HD+ resolution rendering sharp colours and images. Having a large screen also makes the social media experience more fun. The screen is also ideal for watching content since it comes with Widevine L1 certification so most streaming services will let you play content at high quality and resolutions. You also get enough room to adjust on-screen controls while gaming. Realme says the display produces up to 500 nits of brightness, so you won’t be facing issues reading texts under broad day light.

The Narzo has a triple camera setup, which is good enough for casual photographers. The primary camera is a 50 MP unit capable of capturing crisp and detailed pictures. It has an f/1.8 aperture and supports the Night Mode feature for clear low-light images. The phone has a 2 MP Portrait camera with Edge Detection technology for clear close-up shots. There is also a 2 MP Macro camera and for selfies, an 8 MP front-facing camera.

Despite its large screen and battery, the Realme Narzo 50A surprisingly weighs only 207 grams. The rear of the device comes with a groove-like texture that makes holding this large-screen phone easy and comfortable. The rear is matte-finished, so fingerprints and smudges are rarely seen. The rear camera module is large like modern flagship Android phones. It also holds the fingerprint sensor, so you can comfortably unlock the device.

The Realme Narzo 50A is an excellent entry-range device. It packs in a powerful entry-range CPU that ensures the device supports future OS updates and runs smoothly for years. The phone’s large capacity battery life, along with its subtle design and cameras make it a winner in the segment. The device is priced at Rs. 12,499* and is now available at www.reliancedigital.in.
