Several brands market their phones as flagship killers, but their pricing is less than attractive. It’s no surprise that prices of affordable flagship phones have sky-rocketed over the past few years. Affordable smartphones priced between Rs 30,000 to 35,000 back in the day, cost well above Rs. 60,000. However, it looks like the newly launched Realme GT could bring back those fond, old times. It is Realme’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 888-powered device with high-end features, but at an hard-to-believe price. So, what makes the Realme GT different from the competition? Let’s find out.

The Realme GT is the most affordable Snapdragon 888 device. Realme says the new CPU is 25 per cent faster and 35 per cent faster in graphics performance than its predecessor. The device can handle all apps, including high-end games such as Battlegrounds Mobile India, Call of Duty: Mobile, Fortnite and Ark: Survival Evolved. You can choose the phone in two configurations. The entry-spec variant has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the top-spec model comes in with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The phone uses the latest LPDDR5 RAM that offers more power efficiency. Its storage is also UFS 3.1 complaint which means apps and games load times get slashed. The phone uses Realme’s new Stainless Steel Cooling System to keep the internals cool. The new technology uses a combination of steel and copper materials that results in superior heat dissipation.

The Realme GT also meets all the latest connectivity standards. It supports dual-SIM 5G connectivity, ensuring you are ready for the wave of 5G networks. The phone has Wi-Fi 6 and support for Bluetooth 5.2. For all-day battery life, the Realme GT houses a large 4,500mAh battery. It even ships with a 65W SuperDart charger that claims the phone can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent charge in 35 minutes.

The phone comes with a 6.43-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. It meets P3 colour gamut standards, which means it renders extremely natural and life-like colours. The Realme GT also has a 120Hz refresh rate screen like expensive flagship phones. It results in smoother animations, transitions and it significantly improves the gaming experience. Gamers will also appreciate the GT’s 340Hz touch sampling rate. It ensures an instant response and this could improve your winning rate in competitive multiplayer games.

The screen is also one of the brightest in its segment. It produces up to 1000nits of peak brightness, which means you can watch content, read articles and play games even in a brightly lit room or outdoors. The phone also has dual ambient sensors for Smart Brightness Adjustment.

The Realme GT looks different from every other flagship phone. The Racing Yellow edition has a dual-tone Vegan Leather finish that takes its inspiration from grand tourer cars. The black strip neatly blends with the rear camera glass, and the yellow leather mimics the feel of real leather. Realme says the leather is also treated to be odourless and offers a tear-resistant design for durability. The phone is also available in Dashing Blue and Dashing Silver colours.

The Realme GT features a 64MP primary, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro camera. The primary camera uses a Sony IMX 682 Quad-Bayer sensor. It supports Realme’s updated Super Night Mode that uses a smoother noise reduction process to maintain details in low-light shots. This camera also supports EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) and it can record 4K videos up to 60fps. The ultra-wide-angle camera offers 119 field-of-view, and the macro camera lets you focus on objects from as close as 4cm. A dual-LED dual-tone flash is also around to maintain natural skin tones during portrait photography.

The phone’s 16MP front camera is also great for taking selfies and recording videos. It has a Dual Video Mode that lets you record from the front and rear camera simultaneously. It’s a handy feature for recording educational videos as well as travel vlogs.

The GT runs Realme UI 2.0, based on Android 11. Exclusive to this phone is an all-new GT Mode designed for gamers. It streamlines the background process and bumps up the screen’s refresh and touch sampling rates for the best gaming experience. The phone has a new Realme Share feature, so you can easily share photos, videos and files with other Realme devices. Realme has also streamlined the UI. There are tons of new icon packs, fonts and an updated dark mode for personalising your smartphone experience.

The Realme GT is clearly the most affordable flagship phone around. It not only impresses with its top-notch performance but also with its premium styling and combination of great cameras. The device is expected to be available at www.reliancedigital.in soon, and at your nearest Reliance Digital stores.
