Realme C25 – A phone you can depend on everyday

Realme’s pursuit of excellence across their product offering continues with their new C25 smartphone. It is an interesting device for several reasons, none as important as its pricing of Rs. 10,999*. With mighty hardware to boot, the C25 might be among the best everyday driver phones. There are those who do not mind spending substantial amounts for a massively powerful phone and then there are those who prefer buying a good phone for a fraction of the price that lasts them a couple of years at the very least, after which they upgrade to a newer device. The Realme C25 should cater perfectly to this second group of users.

The formula to a good phone is quite simple these days, but it needs to be pulled off well, to make a stunning device. Fortunately, the C25 focuses on all the right bits as should be obvious as we run through the features. Performance and larger screens tend to affect battery life. That is no issue for the Realme C25, as it comes with a massive 6,000 mAh battery, something rare even on many flagship devices. You get some seriously impressive battery life. There are more enhancements with the help of some smart software. One such feature called the Super Power Saving Mode lets you use the last 5 per cent of the battery to play music for nearly 6 hours, and nearly two hours of calling or WhatsApp chats. This is a heaven-sent when you are outdoors, with your phone low on battery, but you need to take some urgent calls or be in touch. What’s more, when it is time to charge, there is a 18W Quick Charge feature that lets you get the device back to a 100 per cent charge in no time at all.
The Realme C25 is not all about its battery performance, it’s also got the brute performance needed to run the latest apps and games smoothly. Onboard is a MediaTek Helio G70, an 8-core gaming processor built around a 12nm fabrication process. Realme claims it is designed for stability, performance, for gaming and for lowered network latency, a nice thing to have for gaming competitively against players online. The processor is clocked up to 2GHz, and the phone ships with 4GB of RAM, which is ample for most games and apps. There is also enough space to install software, on its 128GB internal storage but for those who prefer having all their media on hand, there is also a microSD card slot for extending the storage by 256GB if needed. The slightly cheaper variant of the Realme C25 comes with the same hardware, but with 64GB of internal storage instead of 128GB.
Since the processor onboard is tuned for gaming, of course, games will run smoothly on the C25’s massive 6.5-inch display. This is a large screen and it is also great if you want to watch TV shows and movies on it. The screen has a very minimalistic teardrop camera design, so you won’t even notice it. The screen runs a 720 x 1600 resolution, and with an 88.7 per cent screen-to-body ratio, it makes the gaming and content consumption experience just as good as a phone priced higher up the order. The screen is also visible in broad light thanks to its 480nits brightness.
Next on the list of things to look forward to, are the cameras. The primary camera on the rear is based on a 13MP sensor. There is a 2MP sensor, macro camera for clicking closeups of tiny objects, and a 2 MP monochrome unit for expressing yourself in blacks and whites. The 13MP camera is the versatile one and the one you are likely to use the most, indoors, outdoors, in low light, for shooting videos and more. There are some software tweaks to help with photography. Super Nightscape is one feature that boosts colours and detail for what would otherwise be underexposed, faded images. Other camera features include HDR, beauty filters and portrait modes. The cameras can also record full HD (1920 x 1080) videos at 60fps, which is quite impressive for a phone at this price. Let us not forget the front-facing camera in the teardrop gap. It is an 8MP shooter that can capture great detail, even shoot full HD (1920 x 1080) videos at 30fps.
The Realme C25 ships with Android 11, along with Realme’s UI 2.0 software layer. Realme hasn’t compromised on the essentials either. You get a fingerprint scanner even on a phone of this price. It’s mounted at the rear. There is Bluetooth 5.0, which should help with battery consumption and range. There is WiFi 802.11ac as well, which is one of the latest wireless networking standards. This is a phone primed for wireless connectivity and streaming all kinds of quality content should be a breeze. Even the physical charging port is a Type-C, but it also has a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can use any pair of wired earphones without adding on an adapter.
If you thought affordable phones looked odd, think again. The Realme C25 comes in two attractive colours, Watery Blue and Watery Grey with a slightly diffused band running vertically along the back with the Realme branding. The phones look quite impressive, and no one would think these are devices priced under Rs. 11,000.
