Realme is best known for its affordable smartphones but has quickly expanded its line-up to earphones, tablets, TVs and even smart home devices. The latest addition is the all-new Realme Book Slim laptop, designed for those who want a stylish, powerful but also portable laptop. These kinds of laptops usually cost a fortune to purchase, but the Realme Book Slim is accessible at Rs. 46,999*. Are these features convincing enough to buy Realme’s first-generation laptop?

The Realme Book Slim is unarguably one of the most premium-looking laptops. It offers an all-aluminium construction and only weighs 1.38 kg. As durability and portability comes as a package, you need not worry about accidental bumps while carrying the device around. The device measures 14.9mm at its thinnest point, way slimmer than most ultrabooks out there. A compact profile means you can comfortably use the laptop on your lap or table. The Realme Book Slim comes in Real Grey and Real Blue colours. The Real Grey colour has a subtle dark look while the Real Blue bright shades that stands out from the crowd. Both variants offer a matte finish to keep fingerprints and smudges away.

This thin design still includes several ports. It has two USB Type-C ports supporting fast data transfer and power delivery. One of these ports on the Intel Core i5 variant also supports Thunderbolt 4, allowing you to connect up to two 4K monitors or an 8K monitor. You also get a USB Type 3.1 port for connecting an external mouse, keyboard, printer or other peripherals. In terms of wireless connectivity, the device has Wi-Fi 6.

Where most laptops in this price range run full HD screens, the Realme Book offers a 2K screen with a resolution of 2,160 × 1,440 resolution. This screen also supports 100 per cent sRGB, so it is ideal for using colour correction tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. A colour accurate display also enhances your content binging experience with pictures looking life-like. The screen offers a 3:2 aspect ratio screen instead of the usual 16:9 screen. As you get more vertical space, arranging apps for multitasking becomes easier. A taller screen makes for less scrolling while reading articles, books, spreadsheets and documents.

The display uses an IPS LCD panel that is capable of producing a peak brightness of 400 nits. This means you get great viewing angles with good outdoor visibility. The bezels on the laptop are also very minimal, resulting in a 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Smaller screen bezels give the laptop a more modern look. The top bezel houses an HD web camera, which is good enough for video calls.

The Realme Book Slim comes in two configurations. The entry-level one comes with the Intel Core i3-1115G4 CPU, paired with the Intel UHD integrated graphics solution. This configuration is good enough for smoothly running everyday apps, streaming full HD videos and browsing the internet. For those who need the extra performance for working on large spreadsheets, programming or photo editing apps, the laptop with the Intel Core i5 1135G7 would be the more ideal choice. It comes with Intel Iris Xe graphics that will also let you play some entry-level games too.

To keep the internals cool, the laptop comes with 8mm dual-heat pipes that work with high-flow fans to dissipate heat. Both variants of the laptop come with 8GB of RAM. The Intel Core i3 model has a 256GB SSD, while the Core i5 variant comes with a 512GB SSD. Realme says the SSD storage can be swapped, leaving space for future upgradability. For entertainment, the device has two Harman-powered speakers that promise a loud and clear sound. It also comes with a 3.5mm jack for wired headphones and Bluetooth 5.2 for connecting to wireless audio devices, not to mention other peripherals.

The device comes with a spacious keyboard with its keys offering 1.3mm of key travel. Realme says the keyboard offers a comfortable typing experience while also being quiet. It also supports a three-level backlit feature, which means you can even type in the dark. The laptop’s power button also doubles up as a fingerprint reader. It works with Windows Hello feature, so you can quickly unlock the device with just a touch.

The Realme Book Slim runs Windows 10 Home and it will receive the Windows 11 update soon. Like most other ultrabooks, this one also comes pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019. Realme has also included a PC Connect app that makes transferring data between your smartphone and laptop easy.

The device comes with a 54Whr battery that claims up to 11 hours of full HD video playback. It ships with a 65W fast charger that offers 0 to 50 per cent charge in 30 minutes. This fast charger has a compact design, so you can easily carry it around.

The Realme Book Slim is the brand’s first attempt at a laptop. It is perfect for students or office goers who want a premium-looking machine that is portable as well as affordable. The device also excels when it comes to performance, and with features such as a 2K screen, it stands out from the competition. The laptop is now available at your nearest Reliance Digital store.
