Prices for OnePlus flagship phones may have risen, but the flagship killer vibe is still very much alive with the Nord series phones. Nearly two years since the introduction of the Nord 2, OnePlus is giving this series a major upgrade in the form of the Nord 2. This device brings a flagship-grade AMOLED screen, runs MediaTek’s top-of-the-line CPU and even comes with Sony’s best camera sensor onboard. This time, it also comes with an all-new design which could possibly create a segment of its own. Here is all you need to know about the all-new OnePlus Nord 3.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is revamped to give it a modern and elegant look. It has a dual-glass body with a flat frame, just like some of the latest flagship smartphones. The iconic OnePlus slider is also present on the side frame. The screen uses a Dragontrail Glass which promises solid protection against scratches and accidental falls. The phone comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner for unlocking the device and making payments.

The camera module has also been revamped with two black circles accommodating all cameras but without the old rectangular housing. The phone is available in two shades. The Misty Green model has a glossy finish, while the Tempest Gray model has a matte finish. Both models feature an IP54 rating, so you don’t have to worry about the occasional splash or dust.

The OnePlus Nord 3 comes with a 6.74-inch AMOLED display supporting a billion colours. OnePlus says the display is very accurate and should make content watching and overall usage immersive. It supports HDR 10+, so you can enjoy watching HDR content from platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix. This full HD screen also comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate support. This feature is often a priority for gamers, but its benefits include making the overall user interface smoother. The screen also supports 1,450 nits of peak brightness so reading text and watching content in a well-lit room should not be a problem.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is designed to be a performance powerhouse. The device runs the MediaTek Dimensity 9000, a 4 nm CPU offering a flagship-grade performance. The device can easily run all the high-end games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India at high graphics settings. The Nord 3 is available in two variants. The base model comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. If you need more power, there is also a 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage variant. Both models use UFS 3.1 storage, so transferring files is a breeze.

The phone runs on Android 13 and uses OnePlus’ Oxygen OS 13.1. It comes with a few improvements over the 13.0 version of the OnePlus 11, which includes an updated Zen Mode with new features. The UI is said to be as easy and smooth as before. OnePlus says they have also tweaked it for better battery optimisation and maximise charge cycles. OnePlus promises three years of major OS updates with four years of security patches, making the Nord 3 a future-ready device.

The Nord 3 also brings major camera improvements. The primary 50 MP camera uses a Sony IMX890 sensor offering an f/1.5 aperture. This camera supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) and can record up to 4K videos at 60 fps. Since it also has a large aperture, you can click crisp, low-light photos and videos. The secondary 8 MP camera is a 112-degree ultra-wide-angle unit for landscape images. There is also a 2 MP f/2.4 aperture macro camera for close-up shots. For selfies, the phone comes with a 16 MP f/2.4 aperture wide-angle camera. This camera can record full HD videos at 30 fps.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is also solid on the connectivity front. It is a dual-SIM 5G device with support for the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard. There is also Bluetooth 5.2 with support for A2DP, LE, and aptX HD codecs. All this means you can have a great wireless audio experience. This phone also comes with an IR blaster at the top, a feature most phones miss out on these days. It is a handy feature, that lets you easily control most IR-supported appliances, straight from your phone.

The phone packs in a 5,000 mAh battery despite its compact construction. This should provide you with enough power for a full day of active use. If you run out of battery, you can use the bundled 80W Super VOOC charger which promises a 1 to 60 per cent charge in 15 minutes while a 1 to 100 percent in just 32 minutes.

If you are looking for a strong mid-range phone, the OnePlus Nord 3 stands as a solid contender. The phone has all you can ask from a modern-day flagship, be it a powerful performance, great display and even solid battery life. All the features are complimented by an elegant design which significantly increases the value of this phone in the mid-range segment.
