Nokia C20 Plus – Perfect as the everyday phone

The C20 Plus is one of the latest devices to move out of the Nokia stable. Nokia’s transformation into a wholesome Android smartphone manufacturer has resulted in several great products. They focused on the mid-range smartphone market but not all their devices are priced over Rs. 15,000. The C20 Plus fits into a slot meant for entry-class smartphones. Priced between Rs. 8,999* and Rs. 9,999, the C20 Plus is perfect as a daily driver for someone who either needs a second phone, or just a device to get work done – make calls, send messages, click some photos, listen to music and podcasts. The number of options in this price range are also limited. Let’s what makes the Nokia C20 Plus perfect for such a user.
At the price range, one might expect several compromises, but that is not the case. There are lowered specs but not in the areas that matter. Take for example, the screen size. It runs a 6.5-inch display, just as large as a phone priced twice as much or more. It runs an HD+ resolution, which is detailed enough and while it’s not full HD, it still renders images and videos beautifully, but you won’t have to squint to read small text. This kind of device can be suited for slightly older audiences as well. Nokia’s devices are built like tanks and the C20 Plus is no different. The screen has a bezel, but it’s meant to house the teardrop-styled front-facing camera into it. The Nokia C20 Plus comes in two colours, blue and grey. Both are modest, and professional looking.
The Nokia C20 Plus is powered by an octa-core processor rated for speeds up to 1.6 GHz. This is enough performance to get the job done. You can run all your favourite chat apps, e-mail clients, movie players, music players, and more. We mentioned the Nokia C20 Plus being available in two colours, but those are not the only hardware options you get. The devices are available in two memory variations, 2 GB and 3 GB. The difference in prices is just a Rs. 1,000, at the time of writing this feature article. The memory is just the right amount for the kind of apps you might run on a phone in this range. The only storage option is 32 GB which might at first, seem little but add in the option to increase that by 256 GB using a microSD card, and suddenly the Nokia C20 Plus becomes a viable phone for everything from chatting, watching movies, some light gaming and more.
There are two cameras at the rear for photography. The 8MP primary camera is handy, for clicking gorgeous photos of nature, but more importantly documents and other items you may need to record. There is a 2MP depth sensor to enable the depth of field effect we like seeing in more premium devices, even professional cameras. The phone even supports HDR so you can really see colours stand out. There is even a flash unit for lightening up the environment if needed. The front camera is a modest 5MP unit and while it may not be for selfie enthusiasts, it should suffice but also let you make good video calls, in days like these when remote working and remote classes is a thing.
What the Nokia C20 Plus may seem to lack in performance, it makes up in reliability, not just in its build quality but also its battery life. It comes with a 4,950 mAh battery that Nokia claims can get you through nearly two days with some optimized power management. The phone supports 2A charging, which is not too shabby either, when the need to recharge arises. You get other benefits too, such as the FM Radio functionality, even a headphone jack, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.2. The Nokia C20 Plus runs Android 11 (Go edition), which is a more optimized version of Android. What’s important is that it is clear of bloatware and unnecessary apps that are easy to spot in slightly more expensive devices. You experience the true form of Android, on a device that sells for under Rs. 10,000. It is even up to date with data privacy, so you can choose and know exactly which apps have access to which components.
The Nokia C20 Plus is just the kind no-nonsense, no-distractions device you should consider if you want something that just works. At a price as low as this, there is little to go wrong, especially with a brand like Nokia. Your nearest Reliance Digital store is a great place to find and experience the latest technology, but also the latest smartphones like the Nokia C20 Plus.
