Lenovo IdeaPad laptops are known for their reliability. These laptops are configured to offer solid performance at affordable prices. The IdeaPads have always had simple designs. Their screen on them had thick bezels and the laptop was bulkier than the competition. However, Lenovo has decided to change this by launching the IdeaPad Slim 3. The new IdeaPad is elegantly designed and it now sports a slim design with an edgeless display. The laptop also features the latest hardware expected from a modern mid-range laptop.

The highlight of the new IdeaPad Slim 3 is its sleek and lightweight design. The device is significantly slimmer than its predecessor and it now weighs close to 1.92 kg. The laptop chassis is made of plastic, but it is sturdy. The front lid and keyboard bay are finished in aluminium to keep fingerprints away. This largely helps if you have sweaty hands and it makes your laptop look less dirty. The laptop comes with a 0.3MP web camera which is good enough for video calls. It sports a privacy shutter, to cover the web camera when not in use. The power button on the laptops doubles as a fingerprint reader, adding an extra layer of security. The laptop has a solid hinge design that prevents the display from wobbling. Heat vents are placed at the bottom to efficiently dissipate heat. The laptop is available in Grey and Gold colours.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 sports a 15.6-inch full HD display that runs a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. The screen has narrow bezels making it nearly edgeless. Lenovo claims, the display renders accurate colours and it delivers outstanding consistency. This means, the new IdeaPad should be a good choice for streaming movies, browsing webpages, and playing games. It also features an anti-glare protection layer that reduces screen reflections. The screen with its 220 nits of brightness should be readable outdoors.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is available in three configurations. The entry-spec variant has AMD’s Ryzen 5 3500U processor, and this model comes with a 128GB SSD. The mid and high-spec variant sports an Intel Core i5 1035G4 processor and they both sport 256GB SSD s. All three variants come with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB HDD as standard. The IdeaPad Slim 3 isn’t a gaming laptop, but Lenovo has ensured it can run some simpler titles. The entry-spec variant runs AMD’s Radeon Vega 8 graphics while the mid-spec variant comes with Intel’s Iris Plus integrated graphics. Integrated graphics solutions aren’t ideal for gaming, but they can still handle popular games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. The higher-spec variant features the NVIDIA GeForce MX130 graphics card that should help to run image and 3D modelling software such as Adobe Photoshop and Autodesk Maya on medium-sized projects.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 runs Windows 10 Home and it comes with the latest features such as Windows Hello, that use facial recognition to unlock the device. The laptop also comes pre-installed with a lifetime subscription of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019. This means, you can use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more, for free. The laptop comes with a full-sized keyboard to ensure a comfortable typing experience. Even the trackpad is wider than the older IdeaPads. This helps while scrolling through large spreadsheets or using different tools in image or video editing applications. The trackpad also supports Microsoft’s Precision Touch technology. This comes handy as you can use finger gestures to open applications and switch between them.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is strong on the connectivity front. It sports Wi-Fi 6 that ensures seamless wireless connectivity. The device also features Bluetooth 5.1 that lets you connect peripherals to it wirelessly. The laptop has two USB 3.2 ports and a USB 2.1 port to connect other accessories and storage drives. The IdeaPad Slim 3 also has a HDMI port for connecting external monitors and projectors. The device has a SD card reader on the right along with a 3.5mm auxiliary jack.

Lenovo has ensured the IdeaPad Slim 3 offers a great entertainment experience. The laptop comes with 1.5W stereo speakers along with Dolby Atmos support. Lenovo claims, these speakers deliver clear and crisp sound than the previous generation of IdeaPad laptops. The laptop comes with a 35Wh battery that claims to provide up to 7.5 hours of battery life. Lenovo also bundles a 65W charger that should charge the laptop quickly.

With prices starting from Rs. 43,499*, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 seems to be a solid mid-range laptop. The laptop looks significantly better than its predecessor and it features the latest hardware needed to handle most software with ease. All this combined with Lenovo’s reliability makes the IdeaPad Slim 3 stand out.
