Besides just phones and laptops, there are a variety of speakers equipped with voice assistants. Among which, Amazon Echo is one such dominating player. A year back, Amazon launched a range of Amazon Echo speakers – the Echo Dot, Echo and the Echo Plus, across different price ranges. All three speakers are designed for home entertainment and can do a lot more than just playing songs for you.

If you have recently got one or planning to get an Amazon smart speaker, here are simple steps on how to connect them with your phone.

Connecting smartphone with Amazon smart speakers

Download the Amazon Alexa app to your phone through the app store

Connect Amazon Echo Plus to the power outlet

Now, connect your phone to your home's Wi-Fi network

Open the Amazon Alexa app and go to Settings

Under Settings, you will be asked to choose a device to set up. Select the device name - Echo Dot, Echo or Echo Plus

Choose language and click on the “Continue” button

Hold down the home button on the Amazon Echo Dot, Echo or the Echo Plus, for 5 seconds.

On your phone, click on the “Continue” button. Next, you’ll be prompted to connect to device Wi-Fi.

Go to phone's Wi-Fi settings and select the Amazon device name. In our case, it was named as "Amazon-5KV".

Go back to the Amazon Alexa app settings and click on the “Continue” button

Start by saying “Hey Alexa” and you can now talk to it

Just like phones, voice assistants on speakers can do a lot more. You can ask smart speakers to keep you updated on the latest news, play trending music, tell you a joke, etc. Amazon smart speakers are a hit in the market and the great thing is that they are all available at Reliance Digital.
