Avita Essential Laptop – It gets the job done!

With the recent sequence of events, there is now a need to work and study remotely. That means many of us, and those we know, might need a new laptop. That can set us back by a lot but new brands like Avita can help. Avita has launched a range of affordable laptops and one of the most interesting ones, that aligns with the traditional definition of a laptop is the Avita Essential. It is priced at just Rs. 21,999* and that is typically unheard of these days. There are important questions though, like what you get, and what you do not get, for this absurdly low price. Let us find out.
It must be said, there are a few variants of the Avita Essential, with some minor differences, but they are identical at everything. The Avita Essential looks like any other laptop with a non-detachable screen, a large keyboard, and a trackpad. The laptop comes together with some interesting design choices. The back of the Avita Essential has a cloth-like finish that makes it a little more personal than the usual cheap plastic, glossy back we have come to see. This could be ideal for a student or someone who is just beginning with their first laptop. This look and feel can be quite exciting for them. The laptops also come in Matt Black and Concrete Grey colours. They look quite serious, but unique.
The Avita Essential is more than pretty, it is also very slim and lightweight, for a few reasons we will talk about shortly. The laptop comes with a 14-inch screen, so it is quite large unlike some cheaper laptops that used to ship with 10-inch or 11-inch screens. The laptop weighs about 1.3 kg which is also noticeably light considering the size of the laptop. The screen runs a full HD resolution, which is unheard of at this price point. The resolution is perfect for a 14-inch screen, making for a dense display where text, images and videos look crisp and detailed. It also helps that the screen has thin bezels which is another one of the characteristics of new, expensive laptops. The bezels make the laptop appear more immersive and it also lets Avita put together a large screen into a compact chassis.

The Avita Essential is no hyper-performance gaming machine, but it’s got what it needs to get the job done. What you get for the price is decent performance. The laptop ships with an Intel Celeron N4020, and in some variants, an Intel Celeron N4000 processor. The N4020 processor is clocked at 1.1 GHz, and it can reach Turbo Boost speeds of up to 2.8 GHz when needed. You can find the details of these on the specification sections of the products on our web site. The laptop also ships with 4GB of RAM which is a lot, and it should let you run many applications simultaneously. This too used to be a standard for laptops priced over Rs. 30,000, so it’s surprising to see it on a laptop priced a third cheaper. The Celeron processor might seem underwhelming, but these processors have evolved over the years, so they handle most everyday software fine.
One of the things that helps keep a laptop light and cool is the fact that it runs a solid-state drive instead of a traditional hard drive. The Avita Essential has a 256 GB SSD, which is ample, and it can compare to laptops priced higher up the order. Solid state drives are many times faster than traditional hard drives since they have no moving parts, and they are quiet, cooler, and power-efficient. Unlike other more expensive laptops with 128 GB SSDs, the 256GB model on the Avita Essential is particularly useful since you can install a bunch of movies, games and software installed without running out of space.
You do not get any compromises either. The Avita Essential comes with standard Bluetooth 4.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack, even Wi-Fi 802.11ac, one of the recent Wi-Fi standards used in most mainstream laptops today. The laptop also has a microSD card slot to expand the storage. There is even an HDMI port so you can connect an external monitor or TV to it. There are also two USB ports to connect other peripherals and storage devices. The Avita Essential Laptop ships with Windows 10 with S mode so you do not have to shell out additionally to install an operating system and you can run most of the software fine.

If you are looking to purchase your first-ever laptop, the Avita Essential Laptop is perfect for many reasons. It is compact, lightweight, efficient, affordable and it does the job.
