A business laptop is meant for serious work, so it needs to be durable, to deliver reliable performance and have a battery that lasts through most of your day. Asus’ mid-range and gaming laptops have taken the world by storm, and now they have introduced their first business laptop, the Asus ExpertBook B9. It is Asus flagship business laptop, and they claim it outperforms the competition in many ways.

The Asus ExpertBook B9 (B9450FA) is designed for enterprise use, and it is finished in Matte Black to give it a simple, yet professional look. It is constructed around a magnesium-alloy chassis, unlike other business laptops that are made of plastic. Asus claims the combination of magnesium-alloy makes the chassis rigid, which means the laptop can hold up against bumps. The ExpertBook B9 has passed multiple MIL-STD 810G tests too, that include extreme temperature and drop tests. All this means the ExpertBook B9 is a very durable business laptop.

The ExpertBook B9 weighs 995 grams, which makes it significantly lighter than most business laptops. Asus has also managed to put a large 66WHr 4-cell battery in the ExpertBook B9’s slim chassis, which they claim delivers 24 hours of battery life on a single charge so you can work while travelling without having to look for power outlets. The laptop ships with a 65W fast charger, that promises to charge the battery from 0 to 60 per cent in under an hour.

The Asus ExpertBook B9 was developed as part of Intel’s Project Athena that aims at delivering powerful and portable work laptops. The ExpertBook B9’s entry-level model comes with an Intel Core i5-10021U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. The higher-end model promises more power with its Intel Core i7-10510U processor, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD drive. Both models use M.2 NVMe solid-state drives to ensure quick bootups and software loading. Asus has also provided an additional M.2 slot for storage expansion. The ExpertBook B9 uses Intel’s UHD integrated graphics solution, fit for video playback and running image editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop.

The Asus ExpertBook B9’s screen is surrounded by narrow bezels that make it possible to house a 14-inch display on a 13-inch sized laptop. The display runs a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, and it uses an IPS LED panel with wide viewing angles. It is also one of the business laptops that offers 100 per cent sRGB, that makes it great for daily use, and occasional photo and video editing. The screen comes with an anti-glare reflective coating to reduce eyestrain. The display produces 300 nits of peak brightness, and the screen’s 16:9 aspect ratio makes it suitable for watching movies and YouTube videos.

The Asus ExpertBook B9 (B9450FA) comes with a full-sized backlit keyboard. The laptop uses Asus’ ErgoLift design to provide a better typing position. It also allows for better dissipation, and to keep temperature low during long working hours. The keyboard also uses a spill-resistant design which means minor water or coffee spills can be drained and cleaned. The laptop has a large trackpad to make multitasking easy. The ExpertBook also has Asus’ NumPad, which is a LED-illuminated numeric keypad built-in the trackpad. It can help a lot while using software such as Microsoft Excel or other number-crunching applications. The LED numeric pad offers two levels of brightness, and it lets you use the cursor even when the NumPad is activated.

A strong wireless-connectivity is essential in any business laptop, and the ExpertBook B9 promises to fulfill it. The laptop comes with Wi-Fi 6 that aims to reduce network congestion, something experienced in crowded offices. It also helps to achieve better battery life. The laptop also has Bluetooth 5.1 which can be used to connect wireless earphones during video conferencing. There is no shortage of ports on this laptop as it includes two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, an USB 3.1 gen-2 Type-A, and a HDMI port. Asus also bundles an LAN-to-microHDMI adaptor, for wired internet connectivity.

The Asus ExpertBook also comes with nifty security features such as a HD IR camera for Windows Hello login. It also comes with 4-array microphones, to reduce background noise for a better video-calling experience. The device also has a fingerprint reader for unlocking the device.

The ExpertBook B9 ships with the MyAsus app that makes linking the laptop to smartphones or tablets easy. It lets you transfer data, read and send messages, and even accept or make calls from the laptop. It also lets you access your work files remotely. Asus’ Business Manager software offers some enterprise-grade security features such as restricting the use of USB ports and encrypting drives to protect data.  The device also comes with built-in Alexa voice assistant, that lets you schedule meetings, read your e-mails, or even request a ride using voice commands.

The ExpertBook B9 (B9450FA) is positioned to be a premium executive laptop. It nails the competition with its strong battery life and robust build quality. If you are looking for a business laptop with a modern design and strong performance, the Asus ExpertBook B9 is worth your attention.
