resQ: Superior Installation for Superior Functioning of Your AC!

After having bought the AC that’s just RIGHT for your room, the next important milestone is to get it installed under the guidance of a professional AC installation service provider. Quality of installation matters and certainly helps get more mileage from your AC unit.

That said; let’s take a peek into what types of installation services are offered. Typically, Reliance resQ services offer Standard installation services and Superior installation services across both Split ACs and Windows AC.

Superior installation as the name suggests includes all tasks covered under Standard installation with the addition of a few specialized ones. This table should give you a snapshot view of what each type of service provides for a typical Split AC installation.

S.no. Tasks Standard Installation  Superior Installation*
1 Pre-installation Unpacking the AC unit and check for presence of all standard accessories
Checking suitability of the wall to enable mounting of the indoor unit (IDU). Placement of the wall bracket and mounting the indoor unit.
2 Installation Drilling on the wall to create a cavity/hole to facilitate routing of the pipes/tube from indoor unit (IDU) to outdoor unit (ODU)
Aligning the outdoor stand/bracket as also drilling either on the floor or wall to fix brackets in the most stable position Placing of rubber padding between the outdoor unit (ODU) and the Wall/floor mount stand to reduce vibration noise as well as possibility of gas leakage, hence increasing the life of compressor
Routing of pipe/tube to facilitate flow between indoor (IDU) & outdoor unit (ODU). Covering and insulation of flare nut junctions and connection points on pipes, & power cables Placement of U-trap pipe with the copper pipe if the length of the pipe is more than 6 metres or the indoor unit (IDU) is installed below the outdoor unit (ODU)
Harnessing of indoor pipes using tapes made available with the product Harnessing of indoor pipes using PVC tapes, casing, capping
Fixing of stabiliser and electrical connections to the AC unit
Enabling power connection for both indoor (IDU) & outdoor (ODU) units
3 Finishing & hygiene Externally sealing the cavity /hole drilled to facilitate tubing, using white cement/POP and cleaning the surface to provide for a neat look Cleaning of the work area to ensure hygiene and cleanliness post installation. Also the All unused elements and packaging materials are organized properly so that you place them in your attic to be re-used.
Insulation of the flare nut points to increase the efficiency of the Air Conditioner
4 Checks & Balances followed by Demo Checking for gas (refrigerant) leakages if any across connection/ junction points on pipes.
Switch on the AC unit and to assure that it works properly
Explaining key features of the AC, and respond to customer queries

*(Lists tasks covered in addition to ones mentioned under Standard Installation Tasks)

Here are glimpses of a day in the resQ engineer’s life showcasing superior Installation and its benefits:

1.
Concealing the copper wiring: Superior Installation provides better routing and harnessing by concealing copper wires. In installation of a Split AC, a pair of copper pipes is used to connect the Indoor Unit (IDU) to the Outdoor Unit (ODU). In standard installation, these pipes are left bare affecting the décor of the room. However, if you opt for Superior Installation, the routing and harnessing is done in a manner that make the pipes seem to blend with the room décor:

  • Wrapping with vinyl tapes: The copper pipes are wrapped in vinyl tapes that come in neutral colours of ivory or grey and compliment most wall colours

  • Casing capping: If ivory or grey shades stand out on the wall, the copper pipes are routed through a big size casing capping to conceal them. These casings can be painted the same colour as the wall, easily blending with the look of the room

  • Wooden Pelmet: For an elegant, neat finish, resQ offers wooden pelmet finish; the copper wires are completely concealed behind a wooden pelmet made on the wall. The pelmet can be painted to match the colour of the wall. In this method of copper pipe concealment, only the Indoor unit ( IDU) is visible on the pelmet.

2. Using 2.5'' PVC pipes for wall hole: The PVC pipes provide a neat passage for copper pipes. The passage is then covered with white cement to prevent insects from entering the cavity area as also to provide for a refined look. The PVC pipes also protect the copper pipes from damage and pinching.

3. Insulation of the flare nut points: Within standard installation, the insulation sleeves do not reach the flare nut points leaving an inch or two bare and exposed to heat. This can affect the efficiency of the air conditioner. Under superior installation the insulation sleeves reach the tip of the flare nuts and are tightened with wire so as to increase the cooling efficiency and the life of the insulation.

4. Copper pipe clamping at every 2 feet: Clamping of the copper pipe reduces vibrations as a result of which the possibility of gas leakage significantly lowers.

5. Inserting rubber pads between the Outdoor Unit (ODU) and the Wall/floor mount stand: The rubber pad reduces vibrations and noise produced by the compressor and minimizes chances of gas leak. It also decreases the risk of compressor failure.

6. Providing for U-trap with the copper pipe:  A U-trap is placed with the copper pipe, if the length of the pipe is more than 6 metres or if the Indoor Unit (IDU) is installed below the Outdoor Unit (ODU). The U-trap helps the compressor suck back the oil from the system much more efficiently. This keeps the compressor in good health.

7. Fitting electric sockets:
  • In case of unavailability of electrical socket resQ engineers will install an electrical socket near the machine OR
  • Fit an electrical box near the switch board. The power cables will be neatly harnessed using casing, capping
